Re: Mapping Cancer Markers Beta Test - Version 7.28 [ Issues Thread ]

Of the work I received for 7.28 BETA, most have now validated.
I was able to restart 44 work units using different methods: pause/resume with LAIM off , stop/start Boinc, and even rebooted a couple of machines. A total of eight machines running Windows and Linux. Not a single one was marked invalid, and not a single one went to PVer.
I see now that they have released 7.28 for normal production. Well done to all concerned !! applause

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers Beta Test - Version 7.28 [ Issues Thread ]

All of my 7.28 BETA WUs are completed on my PCs. Two 7.27 WUs snuck in so I'm still working on them. So far no problems have surfaced. I have no idea how long these two WUs will take to finish, because the time left on both WUs are counting up rather than counting down.

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers Beta Test - Version 7.28 [ Issues Thread ]

Unfortunately, this beta passed through my systems without my noticing. I was able to only restart the last one I found still processing. It is still waiting for the wingman to check in, so we'll see what happens.
The only beta 7.28 I was able stop/start validated OK. That is good, but I wouldn't consider it conclusive since I was able to stop/start in erlier versions without causing an invalid.

Cheers coffee

For techs/admin.

Seeing ranges of 4KB to 1267KB in the transfer upload queue for these BETAs, only now looked hard at the System Requirement page where it says 3MB in the upload column. Maybe as for CEP2, a range is better to put there, to prevent concern. E.g. from 0.02MB - 3MB.

We put the 3MB transfer size because that is the general size that we expected from the results. Members should not see a transfer size greater than that. The result file uncompressed has a max of 10MB, but is transferred compressed. Originally when we were looking at the results, the compression expectation was 1/3 with most files hitting the 10MB limit. This has changed since launch, we will change the expected upload once the files sizes stabilize from work units.

Thanks,

Has the completion time of the wu increased? My i7-2630QM used to complete a 7.26 in 3 or 4 hours. Now its doing much more than that with all 7.28 wu taking 10, 12 or more hours.

The MCM1 WU vary greatly in size. You may find some taking an hour and some taking 20 or more times as long. At this point, this is normal. The techs may be able to stabilize the WU in the future as they gain experience with them. Or, because of the indeterminate nature of the research, they may not have the ability to do so. So, relax and let them crunch.
Cheers
