Re: % CPU Time per daytime

Addendum:

For some reason, if you run boinccmd via cron you need to pass --passwd "yourpass" and --host localhost, otherwise it wont work, despite there is no error message given.
Running the scripts via cmd line works fine, running via cron does not.

If anyone has an explanation, please let me know.

Stab: permissions, else you could put anything into cron. Here's a workaround [maybe] http://askubuntu.com/questions/173924/how-to-run-cron-job-using-sudo-command

Re: % CPU Time per daytime

I dont see a permission problem when i put it in root's crontab, boinccmd gets executed, it just has no effect and does not return an error message.

Is it the gui_auth_rpc.cfg password you've used in the command? Not a serious security risk, I'd venture. Vaguely remember coming across this issue in my early Linux days... no alerts.

Yes. The weird thing is, it runs without password from the command line, but not from cron, same user, same permissions, same command, no error message :/ Anyhow with -passwd it works now.

Re: % CPU Time per daytime

Sounds like a lot of work, wouldn't it be easier to use the CPU usage option in the profile on the web site - change to 40% daytime and flat out or 90% night time. I know it means manually changing twice a day, but much simpler...

Down side - is that it will effect all machines assigned to that profile.

Just my thoughts...

Re: % CPU Time per daytime

Where's the fun in doing it manual each day? [And bound to forget coming in one day or the other, then go stressy, get annoyed by the fan and see coffee stains on the wall]
