Re: FightAIDS@Home - VINA Beta test - Nov 15, 2013 - Issues Thread

Uplinger - will the results you get show that a restart was performed or do you have to trust that the tester did the procedure?

We trust that the tester did the procedure, it is not a requirement though. We will be able to tell if a higher than normal invalid rates happen. So if you restore from checkpoint after 2 of 10, and your wingman runs without checkpoint, then we expect the results to match. If they do not, then it starts to throw up red flags. Thus my request for forcing restarts. Also, you can usually tell in the error log if a restart occurred, the logging usually has information about this.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

So it's enough to make one restart per WU, or shall we perform more on them ?

Re: FightAIDS@Home - VINA Beta test - Nov 15, 2013 - Issues Thread

I am finding that the remaining FAH WUs "Time Left" is increasing and the MCM1 WUs "Time Left" is decreasing/counting down.

First copy:
Eldamar World Community Grid 7.06 Beta - FightAIDS@Home - Vina Running 99.19 17.570 00:19:44 BETA_FAHV_x3AO1_IN_FBPa_rig_0197696_0213_1 02:16:21 (02:15:14) 11/19/2013 12:03:33 PM
Progress % - 17.570
Time Left - 00:19:44

Second copy:
Eldamar World Community Grid 7.06 Beta - FightAIDS@Home - Vina Running 99.19 17.664 00:19:56 BETA_FAHV_x3AO1_IN_FBPa_rig_0197696_0213_1 02:17:10 (02:16:03) 11/19/2013 12:03:33 PM
Progress % - 17.664
Time Left - 00:19:56

Re: FightAIDS@Home - VINA Beta test - Nov 15, 2013 - Issues Thread

Of the 5 running I have re-started 3 both with liam on and off with no problem, however, these are not allowing the <no_priority_change>1</no_priority_change> flag to set.

This is a recent experiment for me so I am unclear if normal FAHV wu's allow the flag or if they need to be separately reniced although a quick look at a vm I have running seems to show the flag not working.

Don't like the idea of work that opts out of these settings (CEP for example). this seems Inefficient compared to normal. Surely if such settings are available then projects should adhere to them

EDIT: Mixing Projects with nice enabled with those that use CFS is a disaster:

Re: FightAIDS@Home - VINA Beta test - Nov 15, 2013 - Issues Thread

Gandalf,

The issue with the estimated time remaining is due to the workunits being improperly sized on the server side. This happens with beta work units usually, we try to estimate as best we can. This affects the rest of your workunits but will normalize again after a few workunits.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Restarted the computer on two of them. They set back about a half hour each, which I assume was the last checkpoint. The others I will run straight through.

These things are monsters. I expect ~24 hours minimum.

Restarted with LAIM both on and off. Both worked as expected. When off it picked up at the last checkpoint.
