Getting hammered on points awarded v claimed

I don't know why but compared to the FAAH Vina work we were doing before this project hit myself and others I've spoken too are getting hammered on awarded points to the tune of over 30% drop in returned credit.

To be honest I'll run them anyway, it's the work that's most important to me, but such a low credit return could well dampen the enthusiasm of a lot of people.

Re: Getting hammered on points awarded v claimed

Interesting. I've looked through my Results Status comparing Claimed and Granted. For the most part, the two are reasonably close. There are the occasional cases where Granted can be as much as half or double of Claimed. True, I'm seeing the expected variablility in run times from one WU to the next but it looks like there's some of that between crunchers on the same WUs. Also, I suspect we've gotten a tad used to quorum of one work where you're granted what you claim and you don't get to see any variability like this.

Re: Getting hammered on points awarded v claimed

I've seen the same thing as Dark Angel, just about 30% less. However they seem to be gradually increasing a little day by day 'tho it's only been a few days so probably too soon to really tell.

Is there an adjustment period on the validator that "learns" over time for credit?

I'm working on a comparison of total score for my farm running exclusively FAAH work compared to the whole farm running exclusively MCM work as opposed to the per unit score as that's just too variable. On a per unit basis I'm seeing a lot of units getting much less than they claim and very few getting the same or more.

Re: Getting hammered on points awarded v claimed

Funnily enough mine seem to be the opposite in most cases, not TOO different but significant, sometimes as much as 20% higher than claimed......however, there are still cases where it is much less, but these are outweighed by the ones that get more than claimed wink

Re: Getting hammered on points awarded v claimed

I find a great variation in the processing time as advised by techs. I had not noticed the points issue, but there are differences. I don't care about these and just want this project to go GPU so the work can be finished soon.

Re: Getting hammered on points awarded v claimed

I've noticed that I am getting more points per work unit for MCM than on FA@H (Vina or otherwise), and although yes there is a difference between Awarded & Claimed, a 3rd of the time I'm being awarded less. A 3rd of the time, I'm being awarded more, and the rest of the time it's spot on.. So for me, it averages out at about right.

Re: Getting hammered on points awarded v claimed

I'm certainly seeing a drop as well. I don't have exact statistics at this point, but my RAC has already dropped by about 3k PPD at this point and still appears to be in freefall. My points the past two days have been considerably below my average (to the tune of about 20% or so). I'm still happy for the Science to get done, but it's certainly a sizable difference.

Re: Getting hammered on points awarded v claimed

Getting hammered on points...

... implies that you are being affected by the difference in points which is hard to understand since you can't do much with the points...

- You can't trade them in for food stamps.
- You can't use them to buy a Porsche
- Holiday Inn won't accepted them
- You won't be raided by the FBI for having them

I have been told that some people use them to measure their progress (although I find the run time better to use).
So there's really no panic in the streets even if it were true that MCM is awarding less points (which apparently isn't the case from the posts of the other crunchers).
Let's enjoy the new project and crunch away.

Re: Getting hammered on points awarded v claimed

I seem to be getting more than what my system claims - sometimes lots more. And I have seen lots of work units in the past where I get less than claimed, and about 25% of the time, I get more.
