Re: Welcome to Mapping Cancer Markers

The term "markers" jogged my memory about this post from last year for the original HCC project.

Does anyone know if the present MCM project is related to this proposal?

Re: Welcome to Mapping Cancer Markers

Excellent! A new cancer research project! Once my current batch of WU's are done, I will be dedicating all of my WCG power to this effort. Thank you!

Re: Welcome to Mapping Cancer Markers

Hello Jim1348,
The term "markers" jogged my memory about this post from last year for the original HCC project.
https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/...ead,18792_offset,0#378266

Does anyone know if the present MCM project is related to this proposal?
Good catch! Yes, the poster was talking about the problem that MCM is addressing. In fact, the entire thread you link to is quite apposite [very relevant]. HCC was a project on a basic research problem that affects cancer research. Remember how HFCC tried to crystallize a protein so that the 3D structure could be determined using X-rays. We wanted to use it for Target #11. But the protein did not crystallize. MCM is a much more clinical research project using data from real people. It is more like Dr. Foran's HDC (Help Defeat Cancer) than HCC. Oh, I almost forgot. The MCM project was being prepared when that post was made back in 2012. Just in case that is what you were asking about.

Lawrence

Added: "very relevant". My brain froze up when I wrote "quite apposite". I knew there was a better way to say it but . . .

Thanks, you answered it nicely. I knew that the present project predated that comment, but it is interesting to see that it is addressing similar subject matter.

Re: Welcome to Mapping Cancer Markers

It would be nice if the project could be accelerated with OpenCL like HCC was, but I'm guessing that has been thought of and isn't currently possible.
