1. how can I add an avatar pic ? I cant find an option for it.
----------------------------------------2. the signature works with the [IMG][/IMG] tasks ? becsue nothing is explained/shown in the menue 3. Is there a tool aviable like UD Monitor for Grid.org where I can download a dozen or even more WU's, crunch them, store them on HD and then sent the dozen results back to the server ? 4. in which time has a WU to be completed and need to be sent back to the server ? 5. I have access to a garage where I could store a dozen PC's or even more and I have access to free eletricity so I wont have to pay the electricy bill. What I dont have is a connection to the internet. WLAN seems not to work becasue there are 3 concrete walls and 50 meters between me and the garage. A cable would make the neighbours nervouse and then they would find out about the electricy.....so I cand connect there to my home a cable. any thoughts ? I could commit a dozen PC's but I have no cluse how to connect them to the internet....any ideas please ? thank you in advance ! ![]() |

Hiya trevor - quite a few of us here from the grid now
![]() Things appear far more reliable over here will try and answer a few of them: 1 - no avatars over here so with have been sticking them in our sig 2 - Yep [IMG][/IMG] 3 - UD mon works - dont use it so will let someone else answer that 5 - Have heard about people making extra antenna for wlan to increase the range - remember someone making one out of an old pringles packet. Hope this helps a bit ![]() ![]() |

UDMonitor works the same way you are used to
----------------------------------------EXCEPT... Start it up each time you need to with the WCG bat in there. In other words, if you have UDMon on the same machine left over, get rid of it and reinstall. You can't mix and match DC projects within the same UDMonitor set either. Isolate projects on each computer. That keeps it clean. When you first install, you naturally will tell it where UD.EXE is in the WCG directory. I turned in 11 Rosettas yesterday on 2 computers. One Rosetta at grid.org on a slower computer is still running after several days. Are things faster here?

Re: number 5 of your questions
----------------------------------------What you are looking for is a piece of equipment that will sit within range of the WLAN router you have at the moment and allow you to increase the range, heres the idea... WLAN Boosting (drawing is bad - but you get the idea) depending on make and model - shouldn't be too expensive not completely sure what to google for to get the right products tho - I suggest Wireless Repeater Very good site for what you want free elctricity, huh? - I could do with some of that GOOD LUCK!! ![]() ...and Welcome ![]() [Edit 3 times, last edit by Former Member at Aug 11, 2005 8:21:43 PM] |
