Re: Strange GPU Issue

MJ:

How are you getting that level of performance out of a 7770? AMD sez those cards will do 1.28TFlops at single precision, at 1 ghz.

Also, for which project are you running OpenCL?

Thanks for your contributions.

Re: Strange GPU Issue

My 7770 says exactly the same, 3200 GFlops, as standard straight from the box and Collatz is the project I use until WCG gets back on GPU - it gives me an average of 200,000 BOINC credits per day on Collatz-solo wink

Yeah, there's no way a 7770 gets 3.2TFLOPS.. those benchmarks are LIES!:) I'm using my radeons over at Folding at home for the time being. fahcore17 has some major improvements, but it's still in testing.

Cheers!

Re: Strange GPU Issue

Is there any difference in actual performance? It looks like just a BOINC measurement artifact to me. Another GPU project I work on (not to mention any names) can't reliably identify the GPUs correctly in the right slots, let alone performance levels.

Hi Jim, thanks for your input, however, yes, there is significant performance differences.

I have no idea, but they have always run at 3200 Gflops. I run Milkyway and Poem on these GPU's currenlty, but HCC ran at the same speed and clocked up 25m points...

May be these are rated at double precision by BOINC, thus the performance differnece between AMD and BOINC?

These are listed as one of the top GPU's in the list here thats why they are so popular, as far as value for money goes, they are the tops!

However, for brute force crunching power (and to break the bank!) the HD7970's are brilliant! I've got my 2 o/c to 12288 Gflops and stable at that!

Is this a BOINC GPU benchmarking tool that you are using, or is the benchmark from some particular project? I'd like to see how they rate all the Radeon and FirePro cards using that tool.

Thanks again.

Note - these log entries are not from the machine/GPU's we've been discussing in this post, just the easiest machine to show the details in question.
