Actually it would be nice to know what everyones hardware is and where all this crunching power is located, but I guess some poeple don't want their employers to be too well informed. ![]() Not got as many machines running, these days, as I tend to get occasional use of test-equipment in work, but my current "stable" four machines are: - One dual-E5650 (6-core Xeon) server from WholeSaleInternet in Kansas (12-core, 24-thread) - One 8-core VM on a development/test server here in work - One 4-thread physical server (free colocation, staff-perk) here in work - My gaming PC at home (12GB Intel i7-920 (quad-core @ 2.66GHz)) The next minor plan is to grab a cheap-ish AMD CPU & motherboard and rebuild my old fileserver at home to be a crunching server, too, just to see how AMD CPUs compare to Intels. I also have the currently-on-hold plans for a decent server (posted the potential details a few pages back), but that's more of a long-term plan at the moment until I finish a few other major items on my to-do list. ![]() |

I'm a bit of a green lefty, so I prefer energy efficiency and silent machines. Good for runtime, not so good for points and results.
----------------------------------------- Quad-code i5-3450S quad-core. Home server (a proper one, running email for about 20 people, and half a dozen websites). Usually 1-3 cores on WGC. - Backup Mail/DNS server - 1.86GHz Atom N2800, dual-core hyper-threaded. 2 cores on WGC - Work laptop - Core i7-2720QM, quad-core hyper-threaded. Usually 4 cores running WGC, but throttled down to 1.8GHz to reduce fans (will only run 1 core quietly at full speed) - Amazon EC2 Instance (for the next 9 months or so). Desperately slow, approximately 1 WU per day. - Home desktop - Core i7-4770S quad-core hyper-threaded, occasionally running WGC, particularly if my office is cold! Virtually silent even with 8 threads on WGC. I'm looking forward to my work machine getting an upgrade (desktop next time) that I can run flat out without anyone noticing!
