Recruitment Badges Pilot
----------------------------------------I find myself (almost) lost for words! ![]() I'll think further on the idea of Recruitment Badges but the PS in the email: PS - Shh! Please don't discuss these badges with other World Community Grid members in the forums during the pilot. Thanks! I find unacceptable and gives the lie to the sentiment that WCG places any value on constructive suggestions from its members! |

Please don't discuss these badges with other World Community Grid members in the forums during the pilot. Thanks! I think they want to see how it works and maybe get some feedback before releasing it to the entire community. In short, avoid some negative reactions. btw, the badges look nice. ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

Since nobody else has commented on the "Shh! Please don't discuss" I seem to be in a minority of one so I'll leave it alone.
----------------------------------------Turning to the idea of Recruitment Badges generally, I think, on the face of it, it's a good idea but with several caveats as to how it is implememted. Recognising recruitment of new members is all very well but we need them to actually crunch on an ongoing basis. The WCG membership is awash with thousands of users who have joined up and either never crunched or made the barest minimum of contributions. Just glancing at the UK Team there are 43 who have never made any contribution (DOA) and a further 82 who have contributed less than 10 days RT. In a more extreme example Ripple Labs has over 5,000 DOA and ~2,500 who have contributed less than 10 days RT. To have any meaning the Recruitment Badges should be tied to new members completing a minimum crunch RT days or # Results. Unless there is a bar in terms of actual crunching there will be abuse of the system by those concerned with petty fripperies who create fake users merely to obtain a badge. Finally, we are continually told that WCG resources are finite and developments have to be prioritised. I question whether the allocation of resources to developing Recruitment Badges is justifiable when Retention of LongTearm crunchers is ignored? |

I don't recall ever getting an email from WCG about this, but I've had this in My Contribution page for afew days, maybe even a week now ...
