Re: Outage

So sorry to see you go Dave R, your stats site made this project a lot more interesting. But I Can fully understand why, and even myself have not been running pc 24/7 since this project was taken offline.
Thanks for all you have done and best wishes. -Alan

Re: Outage

Hi everyone. Just letting you know that I will be signing off from WCG, permanently. That includes my stats website, which I have retired too. It's been a fun 13 years for me, but this four-month (and frankly badly managed) outage, together with the huge increase in the cost of electricity (and food, and everything else) means that it's lost its appeal to me.

I would like to wish you all, especially the regulars, good luck and very best wishes for the future.

I am sorry to hear this, but I can understand where your coming from (I too am losing patience and am starting to think the same way), Thankyou though for your dedication to WCG and the Team.

Good luck in everything you do in the future and here's to your good health.

TMC.

Re: Outage

I have to agree with the others Dave, sorry to see you go but completely understand your reasons. I too will be scaling back my output when (hopefully) WCG is up and running again, life's costs are constantly shooting upwards but wages not so! Like Unsmurf I wonder about the number of returning members.

Many thanks for your efforts on your stats site.

All the best DR.

Re: Outage

Hi all!

The start of the migration marked my 10 years of WCG (a few weeks before it started, anyway), and with rapidly-rising energy costs plus some uncertainty around what's happening with my current workplace, I don't think I'll be renewing the rental on my current work-server when it's next up (at some point in the next few weeks).

For now, I've disabled the scheduled task that continually checks for new work, as it doesn't look like it's getting any in the current "limited testing" phase anyway, so at least that means I won't need to wait for that to wind down if/when I do make that final decision to wrap things up with WCG (and grid-computing in general for now).

It's been a great journey with you all, over the years, and I wish you all the very best in the future with whatever journey life takes you on!

Really sorry to see you leave Dave but understandable with current circumstances. Hoping things will get back to normal but must admit that increases in the cost of living and the badly managed changeover have taken some the the wind out of my sails.

It's understandable Thargor. I suspect there are others in our team, and others come to think of it, who will be having thoughts of stopping or scaling back their WCG output.
All the best.
