Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a good weekend.

It's sunny but blustery here so the temperatures are a bit lower. My banana tree (well banana is actually a herb but you know what I mean) has flowered and I have some young bananas developing. I'm not sure what variety they are but as long as they are not the 'macho' or 'plantain' variety I will be pleased.

Rod, when I lived in Papua New Guinea, we had Banana trees in our back yard, they were very tasty indeed.

Tom I hope you are feeling better. People (ex-pats) here are reporting something similar with a 24 hour intense flu like symptoms which seem to go as quickly as they came. I did read in the 'New Scientist' that there is a different strain of Flu around this year (H3N2?) for which they do not have a really effective vaccine (I think they quoted 20% effective). All I know is that the WHO are predicting the onset of a pandemic. I wonder if we will go back to the Infra Red scanning of all airline passenger arrivals as happened in Egypt around 2009 / 10. Anyway - get well soon.
