I notice that No One is using the US verion of A Billion, which means we are all old farts :) Having done a Maths degree, I'd still argue we're a LONG way from a billion points yet (which would be a million-million not a thousand-million), but I guess I'm also getting old, too! ![]() ![]() |

American English always uses the short scale definition but British English has employed both versions. Historically, the United Kingdom used the long scale billion but since 1974 official UK statistics have used the short scale. Since the 1950s the short scale has been increasingly used in technical writing and journalism, although the long scale definition still enjoys common usage. You must be quite old Thargor ![]()

You must be quite old Thargor ![]() Not quite that old, I hadn't realised it changed quite that long ago (I wasn't quite born in 1974, to give you a small hint), but then again, I also hated Statistics in school and University! I've just always used long-scale, can't even remember where it was drummed into me - but I'm also stubborn, so reluctant to change! ![]() ![]() |

I much prefer 10^6 or 10^9 or even Giga, Tera and Peta. That leaves nothing to interpret. PS I left university in 1972 (after 5 years there) so Thargor - to me you are a mere stripling in the first flush of youth.

5,001,993,112 Makes my 80 mil look a bit small. But without your 80mil, we wouldn't be at that milestone yet! Everyone's contribution helps, small or large! ![]() ![]() |

That is the idea of a team. Everyone contributed to the team statistics which is the sum of ALL the members. Well done team. Good morning all.

Yep, definitely a major milestone reached, and not possible without the input of 643 members.
----------------------------------------More cause for celebration (for me at least)... despite my reduced output, I've limped to a Diamond 10 for SCC.
