upload eof errors

I have a wu that's been trying to upload for 7 retries over 6 hours, going to seemingly 100% then getting EOF on socket read: asked for 16382, got xxx where xxx varies. I haven't had any other upload/download problems, and a quick search on this error led mostly to speculation of server issues.

Waiting on 2 other wus to checkpoint before restarting the client; meanwhile does anyone else have experience with this error?

Windows XP Pro SP3, client 7.0.52, no software or hardware changes recently.

Re: upload eof errors?

I had a CEP Wu this week that would get to 100% upload, but not complete the transfer. Asking it to retry, just made it start the upload again. Only worked properly after I rebooted the PC and it uploaded again and reported correctly.

Re: upload eof errors?

I've been seeing it since about 1400 UTC this morning. WU usually manages to upload after about 3 retries or so. Both machines were Ubuntu 12.10. BOINC clients were 7.0.58 and 7.0.60 Error msg:

252317 World Community Grid 5/3/2013 12:14:21 PM [error] Error reported by file upload server: EOF on socket read : asked for 16382, got 92

Re: upload eof errors?

I also had this problem a few hours ago with 3 CEP2 work units failing to upload. The problem was resolved by a shutdown and restart of the computer.
Windows 7 64 bit. Boinc client 7.0.64

Re: upload eof errors?

It just now took care of itself after several more retries, total about 7 1/2 hours. I didn't have to reboot; I was still waiting on a wu that hasn't checkpointed for 7+ hours (!) .

Re: upload eof errors?

Here it is not resoved at all - the small files upload successfully (to WCG) but the big one goes to 100% and retries because of a transient upload error. All further retries have the "Error on file upload: EOF on socket read : asked for 16382, got xxx" message after having reached 100% and continue to retry again and again.

Re: upload eof errors?

Same here, Win7 64-bit, Boinc 7.0.64 x64
3409 World Community Grid 5/4/2013 6:44:56 PM [error] Error reported by file upload server: EOF on socket read : asked for 16382, got 216

It doesn't happen on every work unit, and they eventually get through, but I have 4 in the cache waiting to upload at the moment, running six CEP2 work units at a time on six cores of an i7-3770.
