HCC April 2013 update

Hello World Community Grid members,

The April 2013 update for the Help Conquer Cancer project is ready. Since our last update, the great pace of CPU and GPU processing has continued. We are nearing the end of the work units, but plenty of work remains in the lab analyzing the results. The update includes recent performance results on some new classifiers we have trained from Help Conquer Cancer data, and also talks a bit about future work.

Thank you for your CPU/GPU contributions and your enthusiasm for this project.

Is the new work likely to have a GPU element?

Re: HCC April 2013 update

I wish I'd known about new work for this project last fall, I could've snagged a sapphire for CFSW if I wasn't trying to split my efforts between that and this project--which at the time were both estimated to end about the same time.

I think what they are talking about is the fabled hcc2 project.

Re: HCC April 2013 update

Thanks for the updates, cubes! Looking forward to an HCC2! I will definitely go after sapphire there, CPU or GPU, makes no difference to me!

@noderaser: I think you got it wrong. Cubes is probably talking about a new stage, not continuing HCC1.

Cheers!

Thanks for the update!
It does appear a new project is coming, not an extension and it seems an exciting one!

Hi, Christian:

Many thanks for the update and I wish you and your colleagues success with the data mining and analyses. All leading to better cancer treatments.

I am sure there will be no shortage of WCG crunchers prepared to contribute to the next project you mentioned. I am staying tuned.....
