Hi SekeRob, I don't think that is the problem, as I have an HD7850 on one of my other machines and that works fine wether or not the PC is in use...
----------------------------------------Also there is only about 40 seconds in the log entries between the BOINC cliens identifying the GPU and it disabling it.. The search goes on!

A 6670 is not a 7850, but that's just from me on the outside looking in.
----------------------------------------Edit: I forgot, even when GPU computing when idle, disable the BOINC screensaver, just use one that blanks screen and locks keyboard from instruders [but that's not the cuase for u I'm sure. I take it back, it wsn't the bios setting, it was the remote desktop connection I use to manage this PC. it clearly disables the graphics for some reason.
----------------------------------------When connected/viewing the screen on a direct connection it works fine!

Yes, remoting in causes BOINC GPU issues. VNC is I think OK to use, and not heard word if TeamViewer causes the same problems.
If you're happy to have found the solution, then pleace edit the OP title and insert [RESOLVED]. Crunch On. P.S. Which card to use for which project/science, in systems with multiple, can be controlled from the cc_config.xml file <options> |

Just to finalise this, I now connect to the machines with the free version of VNC, the card in each machine is working flatout on the GPU Tasks, even when connected via VNC. Many thanks for the tip SekeRob!
