My CPU is an AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1045T Processor So it has 6 cores My video card is a Radeon HD 7970 (powercolor 3gb) I'd like to run the crap out of the video card on HCC Yes Windows 7 64 bit (thanks so much for helping) *I just upgraded my video card driver to 13.1 *I just downloaded and am running boinc 7.0.44 That's almost my setup: X6 1035T, 7950, Win7 64, 7.0.52, 13.2 Beta 6 My 7950 is OC'd to 1000mhz on the engine core. Temp is a near constant 70C. I upgraded from 7.0.44 because my cpu max'd when I switched to 20 concurrent hcc WUs (it seemed to ignore the 80% CPU time I defined). All is fine with 7.0.52. My app config is this: <app_config> <app> <name>hcc1</name> <max_concurrent>20</max_concurrent> <gpu_versions> <gpu_usage>.049</gpu_usage> <- this seems to be a bug. Only 19 ran @ .050 <cpu_usage>.250</cpu_usage> </gpu_versions> </app> </app_config> This seems to be my sweet spot. 5 cores @ 2.6 ghz, 1 gpu @ 1792 Stream Processors. So, if it helps anybody or if anyone has some advice on improvement.. I'm getting about 60 hcc results per hour. I think it takes 3 hours to run a cpu-only hcc WU on this machine. So 180 results in 3 hours instead of 5 = 36x improvement:) **applauds the hcc developers** |

on my hd7870 runing .10 gpu and .495 I am processing 10 wu's in 9.30 to 10.05 averageing 60 per hour on my i52500 oc at 3.60 gpu oc to 1160mhz
----------------------------------------steady at 66c for over a week now.. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 25, 2013 1:44:05 PM] |

Re "<gpu_usage>.049</gpu_usage> <- this seems to be a bug. Only 19 ran @ .050"
----------------------------------------Try 0.05 without the ending zero and also 6 decimals .050000 [many BOINC values have a 6 decimal limit] and let me know if it's still running 19 instead of 20. Then I can take it to the developers. And, please confirm client version, ideally this being tested with the latest alpha 7.0.52 release. edit: typo [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 25, 2013 4:22:27 PM] |

Darned decimals:) Boinc 7.0.52 (x64). Win7. There's nothing denoting it as being an alpha release, but I got it from the Berkley site (unlike some of the alphas I get from a Linux ppa) |

Ya got me beat in price for performance.. For any potential 7950 consumer: Boost seems to limit itself at 65% activity for me and the OC number applies to only the Boost clock speed. I was initially kinda bummed, but now I really like the feature. Just a heads up! |

Understanding that is of course like trying to catch bull at four. |

Understanding that is of course like trying to catch bull at four. Huh?:) I just kinda figured it was the dreaded "diving doubles" precision loss or something similar. I wasn't complaining, just illustrating why it looked odd. It's an easy workaround and hopefully an easy fix.. like x/60D instead of x/60. I've facepalmed more than a few times with that kinda stuff:) |

32 or 64 bits, what platform? The address for any version you already have is always the same. You only need to change the version number in the link so if you see http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_7.0.28_windows_intelx86.exe on the official download page, change the 28 to 44
----------------------------------------edit: This is the all version download page: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 28, 2013 8:35:42 AM] |
