@pramo - yep, it was like being in heaven! Warm, very warm clear blue water 28 C, long sandy beaches, wall to wall sunshine, the food & fruit, fresh & juicy! Oh and the women - (this bit would be censored, so I've done it first!)
----------------------------------------Then I came back! I still don't know why I did that! Still it was fun while it lasted! That probably makes it all the better...
Mamajuanauk is the Name! Crunching is the Game!

Did you throw out some scrabble tiles and do the best you could? Touché. Colossians 3:23 - Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men. I've been crunching for over 13 years. In that time, I became extremely wrapped up in the competitive aspect of this hobby. It was not healthy for me mentally or physically. And a lot of it revolved simply around me. How many numbers on a webpage could I rack up? How many names on a webpage could I pass? Could my team gain number one on yet another project? How many people would congratulate me for my output or showing in a contest? Could I get the praise that was lauded on some of the really big dogs? It wasn't simply a passing thought or an amusement, it was an obsession. Eventually I woke up to this. I was hurting friendships with people in Real Life and with crunching teammates. This passage, and now this handle, is a reminder to myself to keep things in perspective. Fun is good, crunching is great. It does say to do things heartily. I just can't put myself at the center of it. |
