Thanks! I don't have any ATI cards installed on the 12.04 systems so I'd have to pull out the NVidia and install the ATI to check. I'm going to have dinner and then I'll install 12.10 on the ATI windows machine. Maybe I'll get lucky and it will work ![]() I'm now up to 37 WUs returned since I upgraded, all without error. That's the longest error-free string I've had with 7.08. I think this may have done the trick! (Most of the 37 are still PV, but the ones that are processed are valid.) I searched for what andzgrid had referred to on the 231 and 232 errors. The references to pipes seemed to be about communication between computers and busy ports. I don't think that was related to our issues. ![]() |

Yes, fglrx in 12.04 is 2:8.960, earlier version than what's in 12.10.

Bill P, the upgrade did the trick for me. I've now submitted 59 WUs, all without error. I don't know whether it is the OS or the driver change, but it worked. Whew!
----------------------------------------Looking forward to hearing the same good result from you. :) ![]() |

Kateiacy, congrats on getting it resolved
----------------------------------------![]() Wish I had good news, but... ![]() Did a clean install of 12.10 to a new HDD, installed fglrx-updates, installed BOINC 7.0.27. No option in BOINC to go to advanced view, checked stdoutdae.txt and No Usable GPU Found. Tried re-booting and no Unity. Found a fix, applied, reinstalled fglrx-updates, re-booted and got Unity back but still No Usable GPU Found. I flipped the PC back to Win 7 and will look at it in the AM to see if I can determine the problem.

They were neither busy or stressed. If you look at the HCC research FAQs you'll find the problem ('ERROR: VerifyGPU.cpp:65 Unknown') identified as a out of date graphics card driver or running Remote Desktop That's right. I was hasty. The error-codes were for windows; not likely applicable for Linux.I searched for what andzgrid had referred to on the 231 and 232 errors. The references to pipes seemed to be about communication between computers and busy ports. I don't think that was related to our issues. Curious if there are 'Linux error codes'. Got to do some research on this. I don't know whether it is the OS or the driver change, but it worked. Whew! I guess it would have to be the driver. The step from Ubu12.04 to Ubu12.10 seems to involve what I would call as a 'critical graphics transition', a metaphorical bridge that one has to be careful to thread on though the OS-transition. The pieces are now falling in place. My theory now points to a sharp graphics driver divide between Ubu12.04 and Ubu12.10.; ; andzgridPost#737 ; |

kateiacy,
On "They were neither busy or stressed. If you look at the HCC research FAQs you'll find the problem ('ERROR: VerifyGPU.cpp:65 Unknown') identified as a out of date graphics card driver or running Remote Desktop", can you give me a link to this FAQ, please. I looked in Help FAQ's and failed to see it. Where there is the VerifyGPU.cpp:65 I'd hope there's also mention of the VerifyGPU.cpp:114. thx |

Thanks, my eye stopped taking in at 232. Well it's black and white, without regard of the Linux or Windows platform incidence, it's either / or, maybe both. I tried search before on the .\VerifyGPU.cpp:65 but somehow the Research FAQ's are [unfortunately], not included in the search index for Help. Let me resubmit that request to the webmaster.
