kate,
andz did most probably not know of LoB [till now]. Few hours ago Gianfranco emailed he had failed to compile a proper 7.0.42 i.e. it may be a wonky version on Launchpad. I've not tried it yet. Waiting on the .sh to appear in the archive, and do a copy over. |

kate, Sek:
My eyes are glued on BOINC's webpage as I'm not comfortable entertaining the idea of possibly using BOINC-versions or makes not found under BOINC, be them Linux or Windows. That's just me of course. P.S. My HCC-GPUdone-WUs continue to validate. About half of my wingWUs have error 127 (0x7f, -129) with only a relative few of the error-wingWUs having the code 231 or code 232. ; ; andzgridPost#734 ; |

I have the LOB repository active on my testing machine, so it automatically is prompted to update BOINC every time Gianfranco puts up a new version. I'm leaving 7.0.42 on the testing machine for now as it seems to be running ok; will update when he replaces it.
----------------------------------------Meanwhile, on my production machine, I overcopied with 7.0.36 (that's the one on which I was experimenting with whether 7.0.42 would fix the GPU errors). andzgrid -- which Ubuntu version and BOINC version are you running, and which ATI card do you have? I'm curious as to what's different on Bill P's and my machines since we're having all these problems and you aren't. ![]() |

I'm curious as to what's different on Bill P's and my machines since we're having all these problems and you aren't. Ubu12.10_64bit (update-check daily) BOINC_v7.0.27_64bit, not using app_info HD7770_PCIe3_16x, AMD1090T, 8GB-RAM AMD.GPU-driver.for.Ubu: fglrx-updates desktop-UI not decoupled from HD7770 stock-clocked, 24/7-operation, all-WCG SN2S and HCC for CPU; HCC for GPU I don't know if the choice between 'fglrx' and 'fglrx-updates' is critical. ; ; andzgridPost#735 ; [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 15, 2012 12:39:59 AM] |

I've got (1) ATI 5770 equiped PC that I'll install 12.10 + v7.0.27_64 + fglrx-updates on and try that as well. It's going to take a while to DL + build the install flash drive and to dry up the In Progress WUs so it will be sometime tonight before I have it ready to go.

Google search yeilds:
----------------------------------------Error Code 231 - All pipe instances are busy. Error Code 232 - The pipe is being closed. Sounds to me like references to a busy, perhaps stressed system. But I can't connect those with the BOINC message, 'ERROR: VerifyGPU.cpp:65 Unknown'. ; ; andzgridPost#736 ; [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 13, 2012 7:04:53 PM] |

I'm running the upgrade from Xubuntu 12.04.1 to 12.10 right now. Should be able to start running again in an hour or so.
----------------------------------------Added later: Up and running under 12.10. We'll see what happens over the next few hours. My setup, by the way, is kind of the "little brother" of andzgrid's. AMD 7750 AMD Phenom II X4 910e (quad core) 8 GB memory Xubuntu 12.10 64bit fglrx 2:9 (not fglrx-updates) BOINC 7.0.36 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: So far, so good. The first 11 have finished and uploaded without errors. Update 2: Now the first 24 have completed and uploaded without errors. I'm starting to get my hopes up... ![]() [Edit 5 times, last edit by kateiacy at Dec 13, 2012 10:37:45 PM] |

Kateiacy, is the 12.10 driver version different than the driver on 12.04?
----------------------------------------Andzqrid, the only thing running on my failing systems was the BOINC client and OS mods. Even the Boinc mgr was shutdown. The systems were I2600K and I7P920 with 16GB and 12GB storage with 1 GPU and 7 CPU tasks running on each. They were neither busy or stressed. If you look at the HCC research FAQs you'll find the problem ('ERROR: VerifyGPU.cpp:65 Unknown') identified as a out of date graphics card driver or running Remote Desktop apps. I don't run Remote Desktop apps and the driver installed was the most current available. Edit: corrected RAM size

Kateiacy, is the 12.10 driver version different than the driver on 12.04? Yes, I think so and you can verify. In synaptic, the version number that shows for the fglrx installed by my upgrade to 12.10 is 2:9.000 I'm pretty sure that what I'd seen in 12.04 was 2:8.960. You can see what you have in your system. (I don't have any machines running 12.04 anymore so can't look myself.) It looks as if the x-swat and xorg-edgers ppas have 2.9.010 for 12.04, but it's labelled "experimental." ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by kateiacy at Dec 13, 2012 11:41:09 PM] |

Thanks! I don't have any ATI cards installed on the 12.04 systems so I'd have to pull out the NVidia and install the ATI to check. I'm going to have dinner and then I'll install 12.10 on the ATI windows machine. Maybe I'll get lucky and it will work
