Re: Missing in Action

Never so sure about posting anything beyond forum/member names in a public place like the WCG forums, if the members themselves have chosen to go by an alias.

There's been substantial "attrition" for various reasons such as personal circumstances and to include many who came here for specific research such as the water projects CFSW CFCW, and Muscular Dystrophy... HCMD2 and then left again. Such is volunteer crunching... for some a never ending commitment, for others as was expressed a few times "a hobby" that does not last, when it starts to become too demanding (how many hours wasted on fixing things?).

C'est la vie... we crunch on [power budget limited]. cool

Re: Missing in Action

....both of the above started at UD in early 2001 as did I, so they are not the ones who come to just do a 'particular' task....they are true long-term crunchers like me wink

Re: Missing in Action

There is also an economic crisis looming, and some have stopped completely crunching because in the end there is an electricity bill to pay every month, and priorities have to be set.

I take off my hat to all those that even in face of financial problems still keep contributing maybe at a very reduced rate, but do not give up. applause

Re: Missing in Action

In the case of GM, quite some time ago read that he was touring with a band in the US, so he might be up into another round. Ghosty in past was more frequently posting on the DC Zone forums if I remember correctly. Maybe they'd know or any folk of the backpacker group hoboing the various teams they help out. Whatever happened to Adywebb e.g... a true houseman these days, maybe. ;>>)

Re: Missing in Action

Just had an email from GM. I've pointed him towards this thread in case he wants to check in.

I am still around. I've changed my e-mail addy Scribe, but yes, 'Tis I....
I did tour the States, but on my own, not with the band, and I stayed with Ghost Plane for a week around September last year.
She's not been too well lately, and has spent some time in hospital, but she's concentrating more on her writing now.

I have been in hospital quite recently with a pyoderma- a sort of ulcer on my leg, caused by the failure of my auto immune system. It was very painful and the painkiller were mind altering.....

I'm over it now, and it's healing nicely, thanks to Sue my wife, who diagnosed it, and after the hospital kicked me out looked after me and dressed the leg on a daily basis. You must understand that my wife was a Nurse specialist, the speciality being wounds.

I will try to visit more often.

Re: Missing in Action

Re Adywebb, last I knew, he had gotten married. The better half may not have been too wild about all his machines plus I think he was taking a break from crunching as well.
