Re: How do you code app-info for 2 GPU's?

The cc_config.xml on Windows is an exclusively user created file. It does not come with the installer, opposed to e.g. the Ubuntu repository kit, which puts a basic file setup in the /etc/boinc-client folder [which is not the program, nor the data_dir folder, rather a user folder to configure some 4 BOINC configuration/network files].

Re: How do you code app-info for 2 GPU's?

It may be there, but BOINC will be ignoring it FAIK. Once upon a time when the data dir was still an integrated whole of the program folder it used to be there together with all the other control files such as client_state.xml. When the data_dir was moved, few remained in the program [client] folder.

edit: If you have a 64bit client, then for Windows Vista/7/8 the client would be in *:\Program Files\BOINC.

I have Win7 64 bit SP 1 and all the updates, and run the 7.0.28 x64 bit version of BOINC.

In the C->ProgramFiles->BOINC I have the boinc executables that are there, but not one .xml file.

Strange ?

Re: How do you code app-info for 2 GPU's?

Not really... at some point you had a 32 bit client and when you upgraded to 64 bits, the 32 bit uninstall function left anything the originally installer did not put there. Anyway, the key is:

1) The relevant app_info.xml has to be in the project folder it relates to ... the one configured for WCG has to be in the \BOINC\projects\www.worldcommunitygrid.org folder
2) The cc_config.xml has to be in the base BOINC data_dir folder, it applies to the client general operation.

Ah. I'm sorry. I've misunderstood then.

But as long as it appears to be using both gpu's, I don't really need to worry then - right? After all, that's sort of the purpose of crossfire anyway.

P.S. If you did not put the cc_config.xml where you found it, then it's the darn leprechauns being at it again ;>)

Thanks Sek for the explanations. All this was fuzzy to me.
Regarding the app_info.xml file all is ok. I have it at the right place and each variant works wonderfully well for ATI and NVidia boards.

Next week I will try for the first time a two ATI GPU (HD 7970)system. Let's see if I manage to set things right. biggrin

Re: How do you code app-info for 2 GPU's?

Not quite in my case. I did find the cc_config.xml file in the C->ProgramFiles (x86)->BOINC
I am using Win7 64 bit. This directory is not hidden.

With all due respect I'm afraid you made an honest mistake here Hypernova. As you can see the cc_config file is not in the C->ProgramFiles (x86)->BOINC folder.

It is in the C/ProgramData/BOINC folder which is hidden by default. You must set Windows to show hidden files/folders to see the ProgramData folder. I'm only posting this to help avoid any confusion.
