Proxy issue on bluecoat ntlm v2
Recently, our proxy (bluecoat) changed from authentication to full AD authentication.
Now we need ntlm v2 to connect to the proxy.

Since this change, we can no longer connect to your servers to upload/download info

I modified the cc_config.xml file (+ forced to read it)
I added <force_auth>ntlm</force_auth>
did not work,
Then I added all the proxy config as wel in the file (with username, server, ...) ==> no luck either.

I still get transient http errors.
Can you help us, (we have a number of users in our team that are blocked by this)

Thanks for the quick reply.

Upgrade to new version will not help: we are already using the boinc manager version 7.0.28(x86), which solved the issue for the other guy, not for us though.

We had a lot of issues with our legacy windows 2000 systems when the change occurred on the proxy.
We had to force that the clients tried ntlm v2 as well.
by default they didn't so they could not get authenticated on the proxy. I fear it is the same issue.

We had to set the following registry key on the windows 2000 platforms:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
Valuename : lmcompatibilitylevel
value : 1
(which is the equivalent : try it with ntlm v2 if required)
I fear your boinc only works with ntlm v1. Is this correct?

The cc_config.xml has various settings that help getting through to include <http_1_0>1</http_1_0> . If you not already have have the manual link, here it is: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Cc_config.xml

Don't know about nltm v1/v2. I've has for a while "basic" as variable in that parm. Maybe set some additional log flag so we can see the http connect fails. A sample config is posted by knreed, here: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=323120

I checked with the responsible of the bluecoat:
reason : there is no correct authentication done to the bluecoat server.
The proxy server will not forward the DNS requests to the DNS server if authentication fails.
Therefore, you get errors like: "couldn't resolve host name"

===> the boinc agent does not use NTLM v2
Is there an update of the client forseen in the near future?

Re: Proxy issue on bluecoat ntlm v2
Searched for BOINC NTLM v2 but got no meaningful hits. One important note is that not all options in the cc_config.xml will kick in after read-in. The general recom is to restart the client/service.

Maybe a tech will look in [send a message to support@worldcommunitygrid.org]. Can't imagine there's no other bluecoat user/org around that is not already connected to WCG.
