Re: HCC1 Beta Test for Multiple Images in a work unit (Issues Thread)

And this continues in an infinite loop until the tasks either times-out or wu is finished so the task isn't needed any longer.

Try detaching (removing) WCG and then adding it. That is one way out of the loop. Also, you can't run this Beta while using the app.

While removing app_info.xml and resetting works, this still doesn't solve the problem with WCG's scheduling-server mis-behaving and incorrectly sends work client never asked for.

How Anonymous platform works is documented http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Anonymous_platform and the most relevant quote is this:
When it requests work from the scheduling server, it will report its platform as 'anonymous' and send a list of the applications you have supplied. The server will sends tasks for those applications.

While scheduling-servers on other BOINC-projects works as documented, example SETI@home, POEM@home, Einstein@home and so on, the WCG scheduling-server does not work as it should.

Re: HCC1 Beta Test for Multiple Images in a work unit (Issues Thread)

I gave up and went back to normal crunching. I'll wait until a decision is made on what version will be supported for a app file.

I'm glad to see we now have a checkpoint at 50%. No problems with the Betas, all validating.

I don't know about anyone else but both of my machines with GPUs have drained the queues. And fetching say

Re: HCC1 Beta Test for Multiple Images in a work unit (Issues Thread)

It worked for me as I ran into the same issue. You have to have all the beta WUs downloaded to abort them otherwise they will be resent. Once you have aborted them, you can re-add the app_info and it should be fine.

Got this from xtremesystems. It worked. I have one machine doing 8 now. Will try the other tomorrow. Just want to insure this will take over night.

Just add the beta entry into ur app_info and you should be good to go.

Re: HCC1 Beta Test for Multiple Images in a work unit (Issues Thread)

Beta + HCC GPU + app_info = working good

Here's what I did to get it going again. if you're just doing single tasks and betas now but were using an app_info this will still work. Clearing the betas will get it going again.

If your WCG profile for your GPU cruncher is set to receive betas and you're using the app-info you'll stop getting the non beta tasks. Check your event log to see if you've been sent beta tasks that have been discarded.
To get the non beta tasks flowing again you have to set your GPU cruncher WCG profile to receive no betas. After checking that set boinc to receive no new tasks and finish whatever tasks you have in cache. When the tasks are done shut down boinc. Go to where the app_info is located and rename it app_info.txt but leave it in the folder. Restart boinc. It will retrieve the last 2 betas that were discarded and some new non beta tasks. Suspend the non beta tasks and let boinc finish and upload the betas. When that's done, shut down boinc. Go back to the folder with the app_info file and change the extension from .txt back to .xml Restart boinc and all should be well again

Or you could do what X-Files27 suggested if you want to run both. biggrin

Re: HCC1 Beta Test for Multiple Images in a work unit (Issues Thread)

After doing what I found on XS, I did uncheck beta, aborted betas, shut boinc down, install app file, un attached from WCG then re attached. Flowing now.
Couldn't wait. Second cruncher is doing 8 now. biggrin
