It is my perception that the HCC GPU is a roaring success. What is the likelyhood of additional GPU projects within the forseeable future?

To paraphrase a recent [public] post by knreed: None! Well it is certainly to the point. Not the answer that I wanted but at least an answer. Thank You! |

Hi RT, We of course would like to launch more GPU capable projects and we will work with our research scientists to promote GPU capability. We discussed this subject in this FAQ. Thanks to everyone participating! Tedi |

Maybe a useful question is how we, the WCG community, can get the word out to scientists about the wonderful computing resource that WCG provides. For example, I work for a university that has hundreds of researchers in the health and physical sciences. Some of their research projects could benefit enormously from distributed computing, but I don't think most of them are familiar with volunteer computing in general or BOINC and WCG in particular. Are there ways that we crunchers can help promote WCG to scientists who might submit great projects (including GPU projects)?

kateiacy, since you work at a University I would suggest talking the the professors and dept. heads. Since many of them are involved with research, they would be the best source to make a push within the University. Once they propose such a need, usually the right people are nudged in the right direction.

Hi katejacy, If you have your scientists review this document , this will give them a good idea of the RFP Process. Also have them review the actual questions within the RFP application. They may contact us if they have any questions and we will be happy to answer any questions they may have. We are always looking for research projects that meet the criteria outlined on our "Submit a Proposal " page. Thank you for helping us spread the word about World Community Grid! Tedi |

Just curious, is there an available list of projects that are imminent for release (the PIPELINE) ? Not GPU agents per se, but of brand new NEW projects or phases?
Reason I ask, several projects have recently finished, or will do so in the next 3 months, and that has a way of accelerating the projected burn rate of the remaining projects (although not all crunchers move over to the next gig). So just curious if we'll soon be down to 5 or so projects, or if there will be a fresh wave that keeps us at a dozen. |

52 Aces,
The number of projects in our pipeline fluctuates as proposals are received, reviewed and evaluated. We keep this information quiet until a new project is launched for several reasons - there are multiple steps along the way where a project proposal may not proceed ahead, plus we like to give new projects as much publicity as possible and we wouldn't be able to do that if any project information was available before a launch. While I can't give details of what's in our pipeline, rest assured that there will be new projects! |

@JHindo
Thx much. We know it's a ton of work to recruit and on-board ahead of the first true WU seeing the light of day. |
