Hi,
----------------------------------------I'm new to this app_info.xml thing and recently tried it. Unfortunaly I keep running into the same problem with all the different app_info.xml I tried. Here is how I do it: 1. I shut down boinc (and make sure it really is in ctrl-ald-del), I already have work-units running in it and a bunch in queue. 2. I create a file app_info.xml in the data folder of worldcommitygrid, It's the same as nanoprobe just posted here. (everything set to 7.05) 3. I restard boinc 4. Everything seems fine crunching 3 unit simultaneously with my ATI video card. 5. When the tasks are done..... BOINC does not download any new ones. Any ideas? Some people said I should detach the project at some point, how can I do that? The remove button in the "commands" menu is, for some reason, not clickable for WCG. Also, is there a way to run multiple task on GPU without interfering with other WCG projet? I like running all of them, but certainly dont want to have to mess into a config file everytime a project does a new version of their app. The Computer is the following: Windows 64 ATI 7850 Athlon x3 455 Boinc version 7.0.28 (x64) Thanks for your help [Edit 2 times, last edit by rodgers82 at Nov 12, 2012 2:45:25 AM] |

What are your cache settings. Some people said I should detach the project at some point, how can I do that? The remove button in the "commands" menu is, for some reason, not clickable for WCG. Don't detach and reattach for now. That will not fix your problem. Also, is there a way to run multiple task on GPU without interfering with other WCG projet? Yes, but it requires a more complex app_info file. I like running all of them, but certainly dont want to have to mess into a config file everytime a project does a new version of their app. No way around that. When the app version changes you have to manually update the app_info code.

i dont understand what it has to do with virtual memory when the physical is long away to be full and nearly no HD activity that would indicate for swapping ^^ But ok i understand when the memorycommunication is not fast enough for this card. Then i cant change anything of it (MB dont support OC). So its like POEM then, it wants memorybandwidth too like hell ^^ Sorry, just stating my experience growing through lotsa different systems. YMMV. |

Thanks for your help, here's some more information about my problem.
----------------------------------------shdbcamping : I'm using Windows 7, 64 bit nanoprobe : Yes the completed task upload and I get credit for it, I double checked in the Result status menu... it's all good. If by cache you mean work buffer,. it's set to 1 day min and max. If you do not mean that, I dont understand what you mean. And regarding the problem... here's the error messages I get when it update: 12/11/2012 10:58:03 AM | World Community Grid | Computation for task X0930075740258200609130947_1 finished 12/11/2012 10:58:03 AM | World Community Grid | Starting task X0930075740269200609130947_1 using hcc1 version 705 (ati_hcc1) in slot 3 12/11/2012 10:58:05 AM | World Community Grid | Started upload of X0930075740258200609130947_1_0 12/11/2012 10:58:08 AM | World Community Grid | Finished upload of X0930075740258200609130947_1_0 12/11/2012 10:58:54 AM | World Community Grid | Computation for task X0930075740264200609130947_0 finished 12/11/2012 10:58:54 AM | World Community Grid | Starting task X0930075740259200609130947_1 using hcc1 version 705 (ati_hcc1) in slot 4 12/11/2012 10:58:56 AM | World Community Grid | Started upload of X0930075740264200609130947_0_0 12/11/2012 10:59:00 AM | World Community Grid | Finished upload of X0930075740264200609130947_0_0 12/11/2012 10:59:00 AM | World Community Grid | update requested by user 12/11/2012 10:59:02 AM | World Community Grid | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. 12/11/2012 10:59:02 AM | World Community Grid | Reporting 6 completed tasks, requesting new tasks for ATI 12/11/2012 10:59:05 AM | World Community Grid | Scheduler request completed: got 3 new tasks 12/11/2012 10:59:05 AM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task DSFL_00030-18_0000040_0531_1 12/11/2012 10:59:05 AM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task SN2S_AAW88536_0000164_1089_1 12/11/2012 10:59:05 AM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task SN2S_AAW88536_0000155_0373_2 12/11/2012 10:59:05 AM | World Community Grid | [error] App version returned from anonymous platform project; ignoring 12/11/2012 10:59:05 AM | World Community Grid | [error] App version returned from anonymous platform project; ignoring 12/11/2012 10:59:05 AM | World Community Grid | [error] No app version found for app dsfl platform windows_intelx86 ver 625 class ; discarding DSFL_00030-18_0000040_0531_1 12/11/2012 10:59:05 AM | World Community Grid | [error] No app version found for app sn2s platform windows_intelx86 ver 620 class ; discarding SN2S_AAW88536_0000164_1089_1 12/11/2012 10:59:05 AM | World Community Grid | [error] No app version found for app sn2s platform windows_intelx86 ver 620 class ; discarding SN2S_AAW88536_0000155_0373_2 [Edit 2 times, last edit by rodgers82 at Nov 12, 2012 4:01:59 PM] |

@rodgers82,
I had that problem until I removed the WCG project from Boinc manager. When you shut down Boinc after removing WCG, and restart Boinc, the issue goes away when you choose to attach WCG again. Hope this helps. Are you using a app_info that is set up for the new 7.05 HCC1? |

The problem is that I cannot remove WCG from Boinc, the remove button is not clickable.

Plz see Help [right top]. It's got a procedure how to reactivate the detach/attach [which blocking came with the older WCG custom client]. The essence is to disable a line in the cc_config.xml file.
----------------------------------------edit: This line <disallow_attach>1</disallow_attach> where the 1 needs to be changed to 0 edit2: Probably does not apply, but if this line exists, also change it to the value of 0 <simple_gui_only>1</simple_gui_only> edit3: And if you have the BAM or GridRepublic account manager attached to you BOINC, the detach has to be done via those account managers. The problem is that I cannot remove WCG from Boinc, the remove button is not clickable. Take the app_info out of the WCG....... folder. Restart Boinc manager. remove wcg (not reset), quit Boinc. restart boinc. Put app_info back in wcg folder, reattach WCG client. Edit: It worked for me :) [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 12, 2012 5:30:43 PM] |

Huh, when there's an app_info.xml in the WCG project folder, you can't use the client menu/buttons to detach from WCG? It's getting more convoluted by the day... GPU crunching for the masses, but not now.
