Dear DSFL Cruncher.
A second phase of the project including the rest of the modeled proteins will depend on the results obtained on this phase. However, given the 530 modeled and priority proteins represent a good spectrum of the 5300 modeled proteins, probably there is no need to continue running docking with the rest of molecules. This is, the modeled proteins of row 1 are quite close in structure to the corresponding crystallized proteins, while the modeled proteins of row 100 are so dissimilar to the corresponding crystallized proteins (low similarity structure). We think that the protein coverage spectrum is broad in this first phase and representing maybe most of the proteins . I wonder if I have clear. Best wishes |

Hello carmusk
Thanks for the DSFL update from your [Oct 30, 2012 9:45:49 PM] post and from your [Dec 6, 2012 7:15:22 PM] post. They keep us all reminded of the task on hand vis-a-vis where to focus our direction. Speaking of direction. the enthusiasm surrounding GPU-computing plays out to drain CPU-cycles from CPU-only projects because CPU-cycles are needed for GPU-crunching. Already, there are posts here at WCG that speaks of abandoning CPU-only projects if only that would maximize the glory associated with GPU-computing -- all in the name of science, of course. From a science point-of-view, it is broadly true that all sciences are inter-related, but when one science project (HCC) starts to drain the processing-cycles lifeline (or may lead to the possibility thereof) from other projects (non-HCC), one can not help but wonder about a number of things. How are you folks taking the HCC-GPU crunching scene? ; ; andzgridPost#720 ; |

I have just received the "Alumni UBC Trek" magazine which has on its back cover "At UBC, Dr. Kishor Wasan and his team developed a cure for the neglected global disease Leishmaniaseis." Then looking on UBC's website I found "...Although Kishorâs new (oral) drug has yet to be proven effective in patients, its development is significant to controlling VL in the short term and eradicating it over the long term.â "...they made the medicine affordable to everyone."
UBC is the University of British Columbia, Canada. Hopefully you have heard of them.... |

Hallelujah...(the well named!)
----------------------------------------Thks for the update and info. Is Dr.Kishor Wasan linked with DSFL on WCG ? or u may have a link to that UBC article? Sure Leishmaniasis is really "a neglected global disease " - i had never heard of it before coming on WCG for another project It's good that others teams look also for a cure Cheers |

Given that some do zero zilch for me, the xxxProfen types, guess that is the very reason there are. The reply of carmusk discusses the same is applying to Leishmaniasis and it's varying forms. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,35165 [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at May 29, 2013 5:15:11 PM] |

There are a couple of links to the articles about Dr. Kishor Wasan's work with Leishmaniasis:
