Re: Nivida 675M

Also, we need to know version of Windows including x86 or 64bit version. How much ram and what CPU do you have? Please tell us if you have Aero running because this has problems with some systems. Some projects seem more effected by Aero then others and it seems somewhat random.

Re: Nivida 675M

i am not on that computer at the moment but i will tell you what i can recall and get the rest when i get home. (on road at moment)

BOINC v7.0.28 off of seti site
windows 7 professional 64
32 g ram
intel i7 2960QM 2nd gen
video in MB is intel HD3000
replaced video is nvidia geforce 675M with 2048 mem not sure what version of drivers but itiswhatever the latest off the nvidia website

have not been doing any projects for a while, got back online and downloaded boinc from seti it runs the standard workunits and gpu work units no problem, went looking for another project cause seti was not staying constant. found world signed up and let it go. will do standard WU fine but if i say i can do GPU it errors out. have done no tweaking or anything just downloaded and let it go.

Re: Nivida 675M

From what I have read, your GPU is a rebadged 580M with higher clock rates. Neither the 580M nor the 675M are currently on the known bad card list here. However, that doesn't mean that it shouldn't be. There are several rebadged cards that have not been added to the list yet. For example, the 610 is a rebadged 520 which does not work here. I doubt the 610 will either. As you can see from this thread, there are still cards popping up as failures. https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,33980

Edit: Does your laptop actually have two graphics adapters? One built in and then an expansion card for the 675M? Many laptops are doing this now and will switch between the two depending on system needs. If this is the case, there may be a setting to force the 610m all the time. If your laptop is switching to the integrated graphics that is not the 610m, that may cause BOINC to puke on the GPU work units. Just a thought and others may be able to chime in on their experience here.

Edit2: Sorry I should have reread your last post about the Intel onboard video. I would start there and see if there is an option to Always use the nVidia card. I'm guessing this is where your problem is residing. biggrin
