Re: Known Graphics Cards Unable to Participate

I would love to do GPUs with HCC since that is the project I try to participate in the most, but all my computers graphics cards are on the black list sad

I switched out my Cedar for this Cape Verde GPU (Radeon HD 7770 ). It's relatively inexpensive and low wattage. peace

Re: Known Graphics Cards Unable to Participate

I just installed an AMD Radeon 7800 yesterday and when I turned it on, two additional projects tried to run, but then it immediately returned errors. It tried two more and got errors for those two, and on down the list. I tried restarting the computer and tried turning it on again, same result. I guess this one doesn't work either.

Added: Apparently it was trying to take two projects because of a second ATI (Radeon 4650) card which is on the bad list, but disabling the secondary card did not stop the errors. I just got one at a time instead of two at a time. I did restart with the card disabled.

I'm not a huge techie, so I'll just leave GPU processing disabled for now. As such, I'm not 100% sure that it's the card and not something I'm doing.

Re: Known Graphics Cards Unable to Participate

I presume the 9600M GS (mobile/laptop version of the 9600 GS) should be added to the list of cards not supporting HCC GPU given that 20 some-odd tasks just blew up on
Error: cl_khr_local_int32_base_atomics extension required by this program is not supported
after I installed BOINC for the first time on that particular system and connected to WCG.

Using Nvidia's 313.96 BETA driver.

Re: Known Graphics Cards Unable to Participate

Was that error not indicating the ATI SDK kit needed installing?

There's more cards that for one user just plain fail and for another work. Techs indicate if even ~5-10% [some very low percent] is good, the card in question is not blacklisted, which means one having a high success rate, and other low or none. At least other visitors of this thread will now know to not have high expectations if their system contains one of these.

thanks

A thread you participated in

seems to indicate that the absence of support for that particular OpenCL extension is the kiss of death for a GPU?

(Edit: Just as a side note, one apparently shouldn't "remote desktop" in to a system running a GPU science project to see what is going on...seems to make BOINC and science projects like HCC mad, mad, mad..."GPUs have become unusable; disabling tasks"...which is a known/planned consequence as I discovered when I had a moment to "search" the great mass of messages.)

Re: Known Graphics Cards Unable to Participate

@ibsteve2u: You can remotely log in to a machine running GPU work using a Virtual Network Connection (VNC). I successfully use TightVNC. UltraVNC is another freebie.
VNC seems to copy the actual console (GPU) memory, while RDP may implement a virtual screen in main memory.

@Sekerob: "Was that error not indicating the ATI SDK kit needed installing?" The 9600 is an Nvidia chip, so I assume you mean the Nvidia driver.

Re: Known Graphics Cards Unable to Participate

Hi !

You can add the Nvidia GT 220 as bad GPU for HCC.

Re: Known Graphics Cards Unable to Participate

The GT 220 will be added.

The GTX 560 ti will not as the success to error ratio is positive.

Thanks,
