My results show that you should probably add the Nvidia G105M to the list of cards that do not work.
You could probably give a much shorter list if you use GPUGRID's method of describing the Nvidia boards - compute capabilities that work or don't, and minimum amount of graphics memory. A few other GPU projects also list whether hardware double precision is provided or not. With such a description of the requirements, you could usually predict whether a certain Nvidia board would work or not, before you actually tried it. For example, if hardware double precision is required, nearly all the Geforce boards with a board number ending in M will fail. Note that some GPU projects have found that the 290.* and 295.* Nvidia drivers have problems with BOINC use. |

Good news. The machind that had the gtc 285 installed was due for a good house cleaning. After an OS reload and running and BIOS to defaults -- 12 hours of GUP output with no errors. I changed too many things to know what the cause was. I's let it run for several day, if no errors, I'll bump the cpu clock just a nudge.

I am/was late to the party. I tried to get a machine running this that has an HD5450. Event log says "No usable GPUs found". The previous install of BOINC was as a service. Before trying to get gpu work units, I uninstalled, and re-installed BOINC not as a service.
Then I found the list in the first post of this thread. And then read through this thread. The HD5450 is still not on the list. I saw that, previously, some people got errors/invalids using this gpu. Just curious if there is something that I'm probably doing wrong at this point? Or if anyone knows the status of this particular gpu? Yes, I know it's early in the project, and there are probably many things that need to be attended to for the project to work correctly but, I just thought I'd ask. |

... compute capabilities that work or don't, and minimum amount of graphics memory. A few other GPU projects also list whether hardware double precision is provided or not. Excellent idea IMO. I've asked for system requirements a few times but have never seen a response, just what cards produce valid or invalid. |

Agreed. I suspect that the lack of double precision is the problem. Thanks for the response. I'm sure, at some point, there will be a detailed list of gpu requirements.

I suspect that the lack of double precision is the problem. The HCC GPU project doesn't need cards with double precision. It's mentioned several times and I myself have a Nvidia GT240 single precision working fine. |

I found why BOINC didn't want to use my card. I had a problem quite some time ago (that I forgot about) with the ATI driver. So it was flagged in the cc_config file to never use gpus.
It's fetching work now. I'll keep an eye on it. |

It's great that members reply with that info on the forum, but the WCG documentation needs to be reflected so a new GPU cruncher doesn't need to query the archives for initial setup information. I understand this is all new and the WCG techs will have the appropriate information on the page when they get to it. ![]() |
