Problem uploading tasks

My two oldest machine suddenly can't connect to WCG. Both are very ancient, in fact they are running Windows 2000. I know, I know, they deserve to rest peacefully after a long and productive life (10+ years of service for different DC projects). But, let me see if there's something I can do. Both are running only HCC. They got "stuck" more or less at the same time (around 16:00~18:00 on Sep 17th), so maybe something happened with a specific batch of HCC WU's or WCG decided to not allow Win2K PCs anymore. All other computers on the same network and internet connection, but different OSs, have no problems. Any ideas, beside putting them to rest confused

I already stopped/started network communications, rebooted machines, etc. They navigate OK, even to the WCG site. I don't want to abort the finished WUs. Some of the messages I get:

Could you be running into the every 12 hours, roughly, WCG system updates? I get this sometimes during that time, but then after about an hour it works fine again.

Re: Problem uploading tasks

If you access https://grid.worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc/wcg_cgi/file_upload_handler with your browser on those computers, do you see something like:

<data_server_reply>
<status>1</status>
<message>no command</message>
</data_server_reply>

Re: Problem uploading tasks

Yes, I get that response:

<data_server_reply>
<status>1</status>
<message>no command</message>
</data_server_reply>

Restarting the machine and BOINC, I get a window that says I don't have a default connection. Uploads get stuck at 76.99%. Very very weird.

Re: Problem uploading tasks

In the Options screen "Connections" tab, there may be listed a default connectoid. I had to clear that on my office laptop i.e. no default as I was alternating between the office network and the home dial up. Clearing that essentially let BOINC autopick the available connection. Now why that pops up middle of transmission could e.g. suggest you've got a poor connection timing out. Here in digital world, the phone line also serves as the ADSL2+ line, with a little noise separator filter in it else you'd get horrible hiss on the phone. At one time I kept loosing the ADSL, tel tech came who swapped this 5 dollar item and away we were again.

Re: Problem uploading tasks

Well, I'm still unable to get those 2 Windows 2000 PCs to connect to WCG (via BOINC). There's nothing in "Options -> Connections". The internet connection is shared among all my devices at home and all others are doing OK. I updated the BOINC client to the latest stable Berkeley version (7.0.28) and still nothing. I'm about to give up trying to solve the problem, since those machines are not contributing much anyway (except my electric bill). I have less than two days before the pending WUs hanging there time out.
