Possible problem

Hello, I have been running the boinc for quite some time. I have it on an older Mac Pro with intel and I have it running on a new Mac Pro intel. I believe since I have been running this client on the newer Mac Pro I have had Operating System problems. I just upgraded to Mac OS X mountain lion and I have had to reinstall the system 3 times. Every time I reboot with the cd and try to recover it I can't. Says the HD can't be repaired and reinstall the OS. I believe it is the Boinc client. I keep the computer on all the time running the client.

Does anybody else have this problem? Does anybody have suggestions or input about this problem? I don't want to keep reinstalling the OS. Thanks.

Erik

Re: Possible problem

I installed the newer version and I had the problem happen even quicker. There is no way that the software keeps killing the hard drives we install? We have had to buy a few different hard drives because the disk is unrecoverable. Does anybody else have the problem or some solution? I love running this program, but not at the cost of new hard drives and reinstallations.

Re: Possible problem

Hello earths-knight,
As far as I know, there is no definitive solution for running BOINC on Mountain Lion just yet. I would suggest searching on the BOINC Message Boards at https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/ to follow this topic.

Re: Possible problem

I am running BOINC on Mountain Lion w/o any problem. I have had installed 7.0.31 ( http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php ) on my iMac 2011 with Lion OS X, than I have upgraded to ML and I have continued shrubbing w/o interruption.

Re: Possible problem

I mean it could have been possible for the original hd to go bad, and then the IT company using subpar equipment and installed two lame hd's. I bought a barracuda hd and hopefully this one works better then the rest of them. Thanks for the input and replies.

Re: Possible problem

I downloaded and installed the "new" BOINC and now the task manager is blank and "not responding". Cannot kill the process via task manager. Can only kill it by deleting the BOINC folder of Program files via safe mode. Reinstalling does not fix the problem. I don't where else to post this. Not even sure I can find this thread again. But, after running for 3+ years on multiple machines without a fix I am gone. Win XPSP3 on a Dell Optiplex 745. email sowder@andrews.edu if you have suggestions. Thanks
