Charity war from reddit PSA

There is a charity competition where in the Bronies (fans of My little pony: friendship is magic) and the Benders (fans of Avatar: the last airbender). Basically it's who can accumulate the most points on the WCG but I'd like to here your views and opinions about this event.

Re: Charity war from reddit PSA

Brony here. I figure this is the best possible thing to happen to this site. People are competitive and generous when it comes to charities. Put people in a charity competition, and they go off the hook. I for one and having my computer run its quad core CPU 24/7 in additon to my GPU. The Bronies have shown themselves to be incredibly altruistic and highly competitive. The Benders have numbers on their side, while they may not go all out like the bronies, their higher user count means each participant does not have to work as hard as the Bronies are.

I personally am going to be looking at the statistics for this site over the next three weeks to see if there is a noticeable boost in point/hours. With both teams already in the top 100 for size, and 2200+ members between the two groups, we can only expect good things to come of this.

We are glad to have your involvement and we have already seen an increase from your good nature competition. We can attribute about 2,200 user registrations starting last Thursday to this competition and about the same number of addition computers attached the grid. We gave you a plug on twitter and facebook on Friday based on the initial impact. Good luck on the challenge and let us know if there is anything we can do to help!

        Bronies Benders
RT 160:312:13:42:50 29:163:01:41:06
Pts 238,962,907 44,982,655
Res 350,417 62,287

It appears the Bonies (MLP:FIM) were the clear winners.

As a disinterested observer I'd say the real winner is WCG and it's projects, who've gained 190 Years of RunTime from new crunchers in a little over a month! biggrin

I agree that we were definitely the winners :-)

We definitely saw several thousand new volunteers as a result of the challenge and I'm glad that we were a part of their challenge.

A secondary winner is my kids who I introduced to 'Avatar: The Last Airbender'as a result of the challenge wink.
