Re: Computing for Sustainable Water project nearing completion

Are they limiting the total number of units available per day? If so I may have to crunch elsewhere as I already have my Sapphire badges.

I would say yes. I have often seen "no work units available".
Also, as there are only a few days left of this project, (I expect I will only get to Ruby) there are a number of people badge hunting.

Patrick

Me either, but when I clicked on "Update" button in "Projects" tab again, I received more.

My goal is Brown Badge, so I have not problem to download sufficient number of WU's :-)

Re: Computing for Sustainable Water project nearing completion

I just saw the following in BOINC:

2012/08/16 12:07:56 AM | World Community Grid | Finished download of wcgrid_cfsw_baygame_prod_gfx.exe.6.11

A quick Google didn't turn up anything useful at all but to me that looks like a GPU client for CFSW? That came down at the same time as the following:

2012/08/16 12:07:42 AM | World Community Grid | Finished download of wcgrid_cfsw_baygame_6.11_windows_intelx86

Anybody have any idea? The intelx86 one is definitely CPU but the prod_gfx.exe.6.11 is intriguing if nothing else.

I think you'll find it's referring to the cpu application that displays the graphics/screen saver for CFSW. Gfx is a shortened word for graphics.

Re: Computing for Sustainable Water project nearing completion

Ah that sucks :/ I'm fully aware that GFX = graphics, which is why I thought it was a GPU application.

Okay thanks. I LOVE the short units, mostly under an hour on all my pc's, but will switch to something else so you guys will have more to get those badges. As you can see I was winding up here:
08/16/2012 0:015:22:29:16 61,801 499(as of 9am EST)
08/15/2012 0:018:01:08:10 73,296 589
08/14/2012 0:005:06:16:45 17,878 145

Okay I stopped this project and enabled HCC but got this message:
8/16/2012 10:41:15 AM | World Community Grid | Not requesting tasks: project is not highest priority

Anyone have a clue what the heck that means?

I would like to express my thanks to all those who, once reaching their goals, decide to leave the crunching up to those of us who need the WU's to reach our badges. Thank you again.

Project have different priorities.
Of the projects that you have requested WUs from, you will get in order of preference relating to their priority.
ie if a project has a normal priority, then you will get more of these in preference of a low priority project.

See Sekerob's charts for what each project's priority is.

Re: Computing for Sustainable Water project nearing completion

Well, I posted a new set of messages on the WCG forums v.v. the 7.0.xx client that DA activated [on my request and always existed, but were never printed]. This one means that another project than WCG has a higher fetch priority, so no work if received from this *project*. Use search and you'll find it.

I would also like to add my thanks for those who are allowing the people who are desperately attempting to reach their goals, a chance at grabbing some of the remaining WU's.
