A small suggestion - there are quite some badges for contribution levels - so I am a little reluctant to suggest another.
----------------------------------------However many of us have 'lead' projects that, for one reason or another, we devote a lot of CPU/GPU effort to. I am approaching 24 years on one project - what does everyone think about a 25 or more years badge? ![]() |

Sorry, discussed out the jin and jang. Not coming, which is TTBOMK. There's a bells and whistles certificate in the works [print it yourself], and me, I'm hoping that something is found to show the certificate level achieved in the dead space between the member title and the badges in the sidebar.
----------------------------------------AFAIK the certificate levels are designed so that there will be at least 1 higher than the highest accumulated years holder... which used to be a non IBM member. (see post knreed for the exact explanation of some time ago) [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 16, 2012 6:57:18 PM] |

There's a bells and whistles certificate in the works [print it yourself] Hopefully we will live long enough to see it. |

A 5, 10 then 25 years would work for me and others with larger computers contributing. Doubt we will see adjustment as this request has been ask for since I started here.

Precious Metals (Round for additional distinction) instead of gemstones? Onyx for 5 years would be great way to close out gemstones. Goals are good motivators even if unachievable.

Goals are good motivators even if unachievable. I agree there, although I also understand where the WCG techs are coming from (having worked for Big Blue in my past). They've only got a limited amount of time/resources - and, even though it's a delicate balancing act between keeping the Grid up and running/bringing new projects online/ensuring others complete successfully and doing all the "nice to have features" etc., I personally would much rather see new projects coming online, current projects progressing/completing successfully and the grid being stable over anything else.BTW, just to refresh everyone's memory, the first badge came into existence on the 15th of Jan, '08, followed by Bronze, Silver & Gold eight months later (24th Sept, '08), then just less than 10 months later (14th July '09), Ruby, Emerald and Sapphire produced more goals to strive for. So, although I'm still of the opinion that they'll be other 'higher priority issues', we've now gone over 3 years without any new 'official' goals. ![]() |

I think 5, 10, 20, then 40 years would represent good close doubles of numbers from the 2 yrs one.
The thing is that computers are getting stronger, and numbers are growing faster, so this will need to reflect on the badges. Smallest servers are now with 6 cores, and laptops start from 2/4 now. |
