Re: HPF2 Project Status Update

I just got the news on the 7.1.1 notices tab. To be honest, at first I thought it was a joke. But I'm just glad the project has had great results! The reasons of its ending are a pity indeed.

Re: HPF2 Project Status Update

I too saw this on "Notices" and was shocked as it seemed to come without any previous indication. This has happened before on other non-WCG projects as principal players move on with their lives/careers. I am sorry to see it end this way. I read the material on their web page and I am still a bit confused as to what their next steps will be. I hope it does not end up as a huge archived file on an unused server. sad

Re: HPF2 Project Status Update

A bit more giddy-up please, cowboy. The whole shebang is going online through a design database front end, so I took from previous 'updates', part already is [HPF-1].

Re: HPF2 Project Status Update

I'm a little bummed that gastro won't get crunched, but I'm glad the results have been beneficial. Good luck to those moving on to bigger and better things!

Re: HPF2 Project Status Update

Holy Toledo !!! WOW... I wasn't expecting this project to end so soon. I was leaving it on the back burner and concentrating on DSFL and GFAM. Will have to shift gears and see what I can squeeze out of HPF2. I'll only be able to make it to gold... would have liked to contribute some more to this project (I seem to always be playing "catch-up"). Well, like I've said before, never a dull moment when crunching in WCG biggrin .

Re: HPF2 Project Status Update

That shocked me as well I was running it really slow concentrating myself on other soon ending projects.

Brace yourself!

This is of a fair bit of personal interest to me, do you know how much of the Gastro-Intestinal protein work was crunched? I can't find any recent up dates on it.

It's great that they have made such a great contribution to research and will continue to, but it's a shame that they are forced to close the Boinc component mid-way.

Re: HPF2 Project Status Update

The obvious question is are any new WCG projects on the way?

We're down to only Clean Energy (which is unusable for many people) and FAAH, which will likely dry up pretty quickly itself once everyone piles onto it.
