And do not expect any if you are running Mac OS X. Nobody is supporting the best optimizes system at all.

2 x NVIDIA GTX 460
1 x Intel Core i7 960 I also have problems with an unresponsive machine when a WU is running on the primary display card. Most WUs are still pending validation, with three in progress and only one error: BETA_ X0000038270088200409250029_ 0-- Device In Progress 05/09/12 08:34:34 07/09/12 08:34:34 0.00 0.0 / 0.0 The error: <core_client_version>7.0.28</core_client_version> That the WU timed out isn't too surprising as it hung at 99.415% for quite a while before I went to bed. Of the three work units in progress, two are also stalled at 99.415% (one for more than 2 hours) and one is waiting to start: http://i.imgur.com/j0yVJ.png They only take 6-7 minutes to get to the 99% mark. From client_state.xml: <app_version> |

2 x NVIDIA GTX 460 1 x Intel Core i7 960 I also have problems with an unresponsive machine when a WU is running on the primary display card. <coproc> <type>CUDA</type> <count>1.000000</count> </coproc> <gpu_ram>266338304.000000</gpu_ram> I have three questions: 1st why are you running an app info file on Beta units? 2nd doe BOTH of your 460's each have two gig of ram or you adding them together? And 3rd if they each have two gig of ram why aren't you changing the count line to something like 0.5 or even 0.25 or even 0.128? If you were to change the count line you could run MORE work units per gpu at the same time. If the 2 gig on the gpu ram line is a combination of the two cards it is no wonder the units are crashing, they are tying to load into what you are saying is available but in reality it isn't there. |

I received 38 today. 3 error, 34 valid, 1 invalid. Just noticed that my ATI 5670 didn't get any, just my ATI 6950 crunched these. Guess its time to upgrade the 5670.

Hi, Mikey; thanks for replying. I don't really know a lot about this stuff, just trying to contribute and pick up what I can. I didn't "run an app info file" on anything, so I'm not sure what you mean. I saw knreed ask another user to post the app version details from client_state.xml in relation to an error, so I figured it was useful information for troubleshooting errors and included it. My 460s each have only 1 gig of RAM, so I'm not sure why it lists a sum of the two. I haven't changed the count line because I didn't know the client_state.xml file existed until today, and even if I did, I wouldn't have known what the count line means and don't like to frig around with stuff I don't understand unless I know it won't hurt anything. Whatever is in the file, was already there and put there by BOINC, not me. Is the count line a fraction of coprocessors to use per WU? Should I change it? Should I change the value of the gpu_ram element to reflect the actual RAM of each card?I'm not even sure what the value 266338304.000000 represents. 266,338,304 isn't the number of bytes, KiB or MiB in 1 or 2 GiB. And, like an idiot, I just realized that I replied to the wrong thread to begin with. These were for yesterday's WUs, not July's. Maybe I should just disable beta participation... |
