Greetings,
We have released the 64 bit version of GFAM as version 6.12. You will see this version number for 32 bit and 64 bit. This release is for Windows, Mac and Linux. Thanks, -Uplinger |

Congratulations for getting the 64-bit version of GFAM into use.
----------------------------------------Do you have any idea of the productivity changes from 32- to 64-bit? [Edit]: Of 3 completed WUS that I'm sure were 64-bit, CPU times were about 10% lower than recent 32-bit times. However, a few days ago run-times were about 20% higher than for my 64-bit WUs. To make accurate comparisons, us crunchers would need to swap between 32- and 64-bit BOINC clients a few times. That's far too much bother. [Edited]: Use of the 64-bit program started after my GFAM device had crunched the remaining 32-bit WUs in its work queue. These showed up in Windows (XP-64) task manager as wcgrid_gfam_vina_prod_x86.exe.6.12. The 64-bit version shows in task mgr as wcgrid_gfam_vina_prod_x86_64.exe.6.12. Our machines will be on probation for GFAM again, with quorums of 2 until they have produced the number of valid results required to be proven reliable enough to run zero-redundancy Will there be a 64-bit version of the CPU version of HCC? [Edit]:(It was announced that CPU-HCC will continue in parallel to GPU-HCC). [Edit 2 times, last edit by Rickjb at Jul 11, 2012 5:07:24 AM] |

The past commitment was to do all sciences that lend themselves to 64 bit conversion *and* had enough live-time left in them, to be converted [Never read which did]. Would there be with the HCC-GPU crunch approaching?

At this point there is no plan to create 64 bit versions of any of the older active research projects. Going forward all new projects will launch with 64 bit versions unless there is some sort of major inhibitor.
Thanks, armstrdj |
