Resuming from checkpoint after reboot was fine on Win7 64.
86 MB memory usage per task.
No "*32" to be seen in Task Manager :)
Graphics starting.

My other computer's broken right now, I have loaded two more full sets onto the same machine (one native and one VM Linux). Will start those as soon as Windows' done. The VM caused a short heavy stress test because I hadn't allocated enough memory to it. Those tough Betas survived it ;)

I already got 3, one of them of the 64-bit variety. What would be the advantages of those over the 32-bit versions?

How can one tell on Linux whether a beta is a 32-bit or 64-bit? I have received 3, all on machines running 64-bit Ubuntu.

Suspend and resume work. The limited graphics work.

kateiacy,

You should see _x86_64-pc-linux-gnu within the executable names. In terminal, you can run 'ps -ef | grep wcgrid'

Thanks,

Re: Beta test for Drug Search for Leishmaniasis 64 bit (July 5, 2012) Issues Thread

@kateiacy: "How can one tell on Linux whether a beta is a 32-bit or 64-bit?"

The 64-bit ones have a larger memory footprint than their 32-bit counterparts.
I'm only running Windows (except my modem/router runs Linux but that doesn't crunch). Currently running 2 x 64-bit ones, using 88 and 89MB each plus 1 x 32-bit one using 67MB, so a difference of about 21MB.
I don't know what utilities dUmbBUNTU has for telling "bit-edness" of running processes, but you could try search for man(1) ps (Run ps with appropriate flags from a console/terminal).
You could also run "file" on the program binaries in your BOINC data/projects directory, but that will only describe the programs there and you may not be able to tell which are the ones that are running.

@bono_vox: "What would be the advantages of those (64-bit variety) over the 32-bit versions?"
If you're lucky they may run a bit faster, but this may not be so.
The biggest advantage of 64-bit is gained by programs which want a huge memory address space, but that is not the case for current WCG sciences.

Speed can be gained by moving 64-bit data (eg double-precision floating-point numbers) 64-bits at a time vs in 2 x 32-bit operations, but actual arithmetic speed may be limited by the same floating-point hardware. Then the extra memory footprint makes bigger demands on memory bandwidth, and gobbles up more CPU cache. Machines with limited memory bandwidth & cache may thus be at a disadvantage. See Also: AMD, Intel Celeron, Intel Pentium and laptop CPUs. smile
