Ok, I've had a few machines running BOINC for a few months now, but today I see that the resource share I'd assigned for WCG has changed and that the device profile I'd set up on WCG has vanished. So now it's using 'default' device profile. Something lost in a server crash, temporary glitch ,or should I recreate the lost device profile and rock on?

Hi,
Hating these "inexplicable" changes of profiles disappearing... not the first time [It has mostly it's cause in attaching a new project to the client, where they start out with "default" only, and then some failing sync taking place, resulting in the profiles at WCG being lost]. If that was not the case [you know when you did that], what can be done to narrow the time when this happened is opening the stdoutdae.txt file in the BOINC data directory and scan for this set of lines: 18-6-2012 14:51:37 General prefs: from World Community Grid (last modified 20-May-2012 18:59:40) 18-6-2012 14:51:37 Computer location: school 18-6-2012 14:51:37 General prefs: using separate prefs for school The bolded bit of the lines is probably easiest to enter in a search and F3 to repeat forward scanning. Substitute with work or home as was applicable. Of course, create the profile is the quickest and rocking on. --//-- |
