Seems to be some backlog going here. I just tried to come on-line to WCG after being off-line for about 36 hours, and all my uploads are in upload pending (project backoff) for another hour plus. So if that is happening to a bunch of others, the rest of you big crunchers will be waiting for your wingmen for a while longer before validation is complete (I have a number of CEP2 and CFSW waiting upload - I'm sure the CEP2 WUs are probably wingman completes for some other bigger cruncher since I generally take 3-5 days to get around on my laptop to finish crunching those WUs).

I posted a thread two days ago withe the same question : https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/...hread,33458 and no answer .

To continue with my previous post, from points 12A & 13G listed in the FAQ's (Statistics Update, Exports & Scheduled Maintenance Process) we see the following;
----------------------------------------1.Four times a day, the Validators for BOINC results are paused How Late How Long - A Quote from a post by knreed on Nov.11, 2008 There are a set of scripts that run 4 times a day. These scripts load new work into BOINC to send, archive results into their proper directories, update status for workunits that errored, notify us of these errors, etc. There is one step that is very db intensive that takes about 20-30 minutes to run. There is another step that is moderately db intensive that takes about 40 minutes to run. When the 'very intensive' step runs, we stop the backend daemons (transitioner, validators, asssimilators) to minimize load on the db. If we let these keep running, we saw transaction timeouts and clients being able to request work. However, about a month ago (due to the increasing load) we needed to also stop the daemons while the moderately db intensive step ran. This means that 4 times a day, we stop those backend processes for about 1-1.5 hours. It then takes another 1-1.5 hours for the transitioner to catch up. This is being done to keep feeding work to the clients while these back-end processes run. Now, unless these details have changed (perhaps the WCG techs can confirm - when they return to the office on Monday), that could well explain the 'on/off' nature of the validators... Can assure you that when volunteer help and support look in, and see 2 threads with the near same topic hovering near the top of the recent threads list, the oldest, most responded to, is continued [which will carry the past / current discussion history]. This is the one knreed responded in... few will expect a duplication of response effort. Think courtesy behooves that the one starting a new thread, first checks if there's anything recent on the matter... to keep it in one place. As I've noted several times, there's load checking, and if something higher in the pecking order requires priority, the validators (plural, as there are 1 or more -per science-) get paused, that's outside of any scheduled suspending as existed/exists per gb's found FAQ quote. Looks like things are catching up now. All my uploads completed and I'm seeing some of those uploaded WUs validated as well.
Now hopefully all these servers will stay up going forward and the WSG staff can have a decent rest of the weekend. |

Can assure you that when volunteer help and support look in, and see 2 threads with the near same topic hovering near the top of the recent threads list, the oldest, most responded to, is continued [which will carry the past / current discussion history]. This is the one knreed responded in... few will expect a duplication of response effort. Think courtesy behooves that the one starting a new thread, first checks if there's anything recent on the matter... to keep it in one place. I agree... but I was first...  nevermind... ATM at least the Sustainable Water validator is running. If all are running, the catchup runs at or above 25 validations per second.... midnight will have little reason to have a bad REM. The hundred my 1.1 hosts returned this afternoon have but for 20 needing a wingman all validated now.

So they were down, and they're up again after a little intermission...everything returned [by my clients] in the last 12 hours but 4 that wait on a wingman, have validated.
