Hello David_L6
Reference: David_L6 [May 25, 2012 12:20:12 AM] post There's a lot more fun, excitement, and challenge for one to engage his/her energy and intelligence with, on the grid and in the forum -- than a sought capability to merge computer-names under an account. ; |

I'm simply shocked and speechless by the aggression of the starting e-mail.

I guess it really is not that important to the author
David_L6 Feb 4, 2007 10:08:16 PM We have already read two of the more important comments from the CAs:I shall NOT be here in 2008 if it takes that long. In fact, I probably won't be here in mid 2007 if merging still isn't possible by then Didactylos Jul 5, 2007 10:30:30 PM sometimes a feature that sounds absolutely trivial is, in reality, a major change requiring all sorts of work. This is one of those cases SekeRob May 25, 2012 1:08:28 AM any more "demands"/comments on this subject would be considered to be trollingSimply does not fit with the sponsor's desire seeing a steady growth of registered devices), active device growth keeping up too, no doubt |

This topic was resurrected on our Facebook page. I am adding the same comment here, that I posted there:
We recognize that some people would really like this feature and we have added it to our 'to-do' list. However, our 'to-do' list is very long and we have to prioritize where we spend our time. In this case, this item, while desired by some volunteers, is a nice to have feature vs something that inhibits volunteers from getting research done or a feature that advances the research that is being run at World Community Grid. As an example, we are currently changing Say No to Schistosoma, Global Online Fight Against Malaria and Drug Search for Leishmaniasis to run with reduced redundancy so that more workunits can be completed. We are also close to resolving the issue that is making Computing for Sustainable Water run slow on Windows XP (and our findings with this issue may result in the project running faster on all computers). Please understand that we are not dismissing your request - but we do not have unlimited resources. |

Interesting as when this *code* developing leads to an all platform performance improvement.

Maybe if you constructed and published a version of your 'To Do List', and indicated where you implemented suggestions you might not get asked the same questions so often, and people would be happier (even friendlier) when it comes to making suggestions (think they will actually get considered and implemented) Then they would be bombarded with "friendly" suggestions on re-prioritizing the list, because, after all, the crunchers know more about programming than the techs. Also, if you included a Doing/Working On part of the list when readers see things such as making an app 50% faster on certain platforms (which isn't the first time this has happened) they would see reason Then they get bombarded from the other direction on When, When, When. I think both ideas, while valid at face value, are going to be 100x more problems than keeping the list private and known only to those who need to know, ie: The Techs |

skgiven, I couldn't agree more to your statement. However, I only see future posts on how users would rather that valuable time be spent on yet more/better projects. It seems that anything suggested to be added or improved at WCG that doesn't improve an existent app or bring another project on board is deemed wasteful and unworthy.
