I had BOINC versions 7.0.25 and 6.10.58 both installed on one computer

I had both versions installed on one computer. When I installed 7.0.25 I did not pay attention to the fact that 6.10.58 remained. I discovered this during a reboot when both agents tried to load at startup.

I uninstalled 6.10.58 and started 7.0.25. It appears (though I am not certain) that the prior in-progress tasks had all been running under version 6 and were 'abandoned' when I started version 7.

Is this correct? If so, what happens to the incomplete work units?

''Lost'' WU's (those fetched, but not reported back), are reissued when going past deadline. On your Result Status page they eventually show as "No Reply", with 5 demerits ;>).

How you got both on 1 machine [I have 4 and all work, but that was planned and designed]... In your case one scenario is that the WCG version is 32 bits and the 7.0.25 could be 64 bits, but generally BOINC installer is very good at finding old installs and remove the previous version and move the data directory... hence why such multi install schemes must be planned.

See, this whole "demerit" system shocks me back to my childhood :-(

I installed version 6 from here, WCG. I "discovered" version 7 at Berkeley.

Being a fellow who, sometimes (often?) tragically, tends toward the "latest and greatest", I installed version 7.0

This happened on several machines...let the demerits pile up.

Perhaps it will give me ammunition for my discussion with my finance minister when the subject of "increased funding for the sciences" comes up.

I upgraded to 6.12.32 from 6.10.xx. When rebooting, both start up. Have to kill 6.10 before continuing. Will wait until I totally empty my cache (have other projects) before doing this so I don't loose anything. Would think boinc would just update instead of replicating. Could be a win7 64 thing too. Not sure though.

One thing to add, 6.10 was downloaded from WCG. 6.12 was downloaded from berkley web site. The 6.10 uses the WCG icon and 6.12 uses the boinc icon in my tray.
