So, in the last update (17/05/12 00:06:02) something when wrong with my
----------------------------------------stats as it says I only returned 1 result in that timeframe ![]() I have 2 machines running at the moment, one an 8 thread and one a 2 thread. many more results than that would have been returned in that 12 hour session. Any ideas? ![]() <edit> I'm not sure how BOINCSTATS and WCG are linked in terms of their points updates, but according to it I gained 5350 points (37450 WCG points) http://boincstats.com/stats/boinc_user_graph....223d5c04c2e22badb2e0cf1e2 [Edit 1 times, last edit by Simba123 at May 17, 2012 4:32:37 AM] |

Hello Simba123,
Look at your Results Status page. Points are awarded when a result is validated, not when it is returned. This causes a lot of jerky irregular poinys progress. Lawrence |

Thanks Lawrence.
What you say is True, but I've never had a day when only 1 result got validated, especially as I'm running 3 different projects. I'm very interested in seeing what the next update brings. Not so concerned about the points etc, I'm just hoping that the computations did not get lost as well. |

Just look at the timestamps of the return registration on the Result Status page, then click on the Result name to see when the wingman returned. At least the last week any validation in the afternoons are kind of immediate. Mornings (UTC time), you could see several hours delay when the validators or some other scheduler process gets paused for maintenance or load balancing... or the techs could have been in "Men at Work" mode and paused the validators for maintenance, mostly when shortish they will not tell, only when it takes longer (and then, they're so busy, they do forget to do that at times ;O)
Notably, the clients accumulate the part 2 of result uploading, the "Ready to Report" (RtR), for server scheduling efficiency (there are over 1 million results daily). Long as a client has enough work to crunch on, there's no need for an agent to connect to the Scheduler (That what you see done in real time updates on the Result Status page... work assigned, work reported), status of validation. Only when an RtR is 24 hours old, will the client force an upload... so the reports could actually have slipped into the new day... it's not key [we're not here for credits ;-]... The actual output files, the calculations of a task (part one), are always immediately uploaded, if a network connection is live. RtR's are merely a second confirmation that all result parts have correctly uploaded, which get's logged by the Task Scheduler. Loads of verification and assurances take place in the reporting process so there is no doubt that anything gets missed. (for general education of all, in case you already know) --//-- |

hmm ok.
As an interesting note, I just had another look at my results returned has changed to 40. Still in the same update period, so the number shouldn't have changed. well, chalk that up to one of lifes mysteries and move on I guess. Thanks all! |
