Don't know anything about ATI, but someone posted this, and thought it might help |

Just another shot in the dark but did you accidently install 32 bit XP drivers instead of 64 bit?

@tomast
Was an Nvidia GT520 card. Try the Support FAQ How to completely clean drivers of replaced GPU cards (BOINC FAQ Service). |

Tony you just may have found the problem. I have never tried to go from Nvidia to ATI. I ran the utility and was amazed at the "dregs" that have been left behind including a bunch of ATI drivers. I have never had an ATI card.

Oh my !
Thanks for the Help but... I give up for now. Done all the Windows updates. I've run the Drive Sweeper and cleaned out the NV stuff. Added the user to boinc-users and boinc-admins Groups. Reinstalled the CCC 12.4 a half dozen times...(for sure 64 bit) And reinstalled Boinc (Not protected mode for sure) I think the HD 7970 just does not like XP. All I find on Google is something about SDK and Opencl but what I found was for Win 7. In desperation I installed it anyway. No Luck... Maybe I'll trade it for my 560 Ti 448 + another one if I can get it, and try the 7970 on my Win 7 computer. I don't mean to be a NV fanboy , but , I sure wish I had said to get a GTX 580 or (2x) GTX 560 Ti. They might not have been blazing fast with DP but at least they would work with XP for sure. |

Why not try Windows 7? Funny you should say that , I was just looking on Newegg for that. ![]() It's already a dual boot box , so why not make it triple boot ? ![]() It's worth a try. |

Windows 7 is much better than XP IMHO!

OpenCL is not supported with the HD7900 series using XP.
