Why not abort if you think that they are not fit to run on your machine?

That does not sound right somehow. Anyway, don't let yourself be pushed into anything that makes you unhappy.

Re: Beta test for Computing for Sustainable Water - Linux Only - May 7th 2012 - Issues Thread

Got 15 WUs, run them almost simultaneously (Dual Quad Xeon with HT switched on) with one task of SNTS (to the total of 16 task at once) and completed without any problems. Also significantly quicker than production 6.05 (~4 hrs vs ~4.9 hrs).

Re: Beta test for Computing for Sustainable Water - Linux Only - May 7th 2012 - Issues Thread

hmmm, since the production requirement 300MB, actual use 279MB (The number I see semi constantly for CFSW), 2 concurrent is stretching the envelope in 600MB. Assuming there's VM to swap into, the potential is a very busy system... and BOINC then bowing out through those zero status / if this happens. For a system like this a 1 at the time may be the answer, same as CEP2.

Can you please confirm by posting the error log, though there may not be an error log yet since your reset before reporting had the servers treat the case as task file(s) lost.

Re: Beta test for Computing for Sustainable Water - Linux Only - May 7th 2012 - Issues Thread

rilian,

Please see if you can find the stderr for these work units. Also, are you running a completely headless machine? Meaning no gui? If so I wonder if changing your device profile settings on the website may help limit more than 1 of these work units running on your machine at a time. Also, can you copy the top of your Messages? It usually has something similar to:

4/23/2012 12:31:13 PM World Community Grid Computer location: home
4/23/2012 12:31:13 PM General prefs: using separate prefs for home
4/23/2012 12:31:13 PM Reading preferences override file
4/23/2012 12:31:13 PM Preferences:

4/23/2012 12:31:13 PM max memory usage when idle: 5466.62MB
4/23/2012 12:31:13 PM max disk usage: 20.00GB
4/23/2012 12:31:13 PM max CPUs used: 1
4/23/2012 12:31:13 PM don't compute while active
4/23/2012 12:31:13 PM don't use GPU while active

Thanks,

Received 3 total, one at a time on my dual-core. Two completed "Pending Validation". Third one is a "Error" resend.

Re: Beta test for Computing for Sustainable Water - Linux Only - May 7th 2012 - Issues Thread

Hello WCG-Techs.

What is the rationale, and objective of this beta-CFSW? How does the roadmap of the WU for said beta-CFSW (for Linux-only) tie in with the production-CFSW-WUs (for Linux and Windows CFSW-WUs)?

Thanks
