Re: search for Leishmaniasis : title disappeared on the screensaver

If it's that important to see this graphic element,

!) Open BOINC Manager, advanced view, select WCG, first hit the "Update" button to report any ready to report work, then hit the "Reset Project" button. That deletes most WCG files and will fetch a new set.

or

2) The more dangerous way is to do as above, to hit the "Update" button, find the BOINC Data Directory [printed at startup in the message log], stop BOINC, open file explorer, go into the projects\www.worldcommunitygrid.org and delete all files that have a dsfl in the name. Then start BOINC again, and do the "Update" button operation again. New DSFL files will be fetched.

N.B. In both cases, you will loose whatever uncompleted tasks still on your computer. Note that the file location may be hidden in file explorer, so you'll have to type the path in the address bar when selecting the second method.

Re: search for Leishmaniasis : title disappeared on the screensaver

It is and it is not important to have this graphic element :

- first : before I had always this title
- now : I repair Windows with Hijackthis and I have some grafic problems with another software, and I think if I repair this title, this repair also other grafics problems ...
- since this repair, I use several Leishmaniasis units with this same lack of title : this is a symptom of another thing than this unit, and I begin to compute it, I don't want to lose it.
Maybe for instance a problem with flashplayer I don't know (but I have updated it). So I wonder what peculiar file is used to put this title on the screen, why all the screen saver is on the screen and not this title ...

I have this on my screen : no picture with the first part of my question : do you have also the same ?

Re: search for Leishmaniasis : title disappeared on the screensaver

In fact ... yes, and I used several softwares to improve with good advices on another forum and all is better, except this problem. So can somebody tell me anything on this title : what is his specifity ? This help me to solve it. It is here Leishmaniasis forum and it is surely possible to speak with designers of this project . Please Petehardy, tell me also if you have pictures as I ask in the end of my previous answer : maybe it is a part of the problem.

Re: search for Leishmaniasis : title disappeared on the screensaver

The title in the graphics comes from the following file:

dsfl_image18_6.24.tga

It can be found in your data directory under projects/www.worldcommunitygrid.org subfolder.

It can be opened with some graphics programs (Irfanview on my PC). If you open it in a graphics program and it is corrupt, then delete the file and it will be downloaded later on a contact with the WCG servers.

Ah, file image18 ... that would make a delete and auto-recoup certainly clean and lossless. My concern though is, that whatever set required the Hijackthis cleaner to be run has secretly corrupted more.

Thanks.

Hijackthis is a very powerful tool used to fix some pretty intractable problems. However, the caveat is be very careful in its use because if it is used improperly it can result in severe problems. You really need to know what you are changing when you use this program.

I don't find this tga file : where is it exactly and this subfolder ?
Also I don't know anymore what exactly was doing Hijackthis; I try to read other tga for instance with ACDSee and I can see it. I used also another grafic software : CrazyTalk and pictures are blurred now; maybe it is part of the same problem.... and nobody tell me if you see pictures in my answer above :
"I have this on my screen : no picture with the first part of my question : do you have also the same ?"

Thank you to tell that because it is also an indication.
My concern though is, that whatever set required the Hijackthis cleaner to be run has secretly corrupted more.

In fact I have now less problems than before, and I hope to solve this also ...
