Re: Computing for Sustainable Water Problems Thread

I'm seeing a curious (and slightly irritating) issue/problem with some CFSW WUs... Generally, on my machine, CFSW WUs take 45-50 mins to finish, but there are some WUs that will crunch much more time (3, 7, 12 hours) and constantly show that there is only 10-15 mins left to finish, but they never finish (at least I've never seen one finish). I end up aborting them. As an experiment, I had three of them last night. All three had been crunching for 3-4 hours, two showed they had 30 mins - 1.5 hrs left and the last one showed something ridiculous like 17 hours to go. This morning, all three WUs were still crunching (showing 11-12 hours crunched) and still showing aprox the same time left. What kind of WUs are these ? BTW, I have seen this behavior on my other computer as well (both have Win 7). Any ideas ?

Edit: Seems I got another one: it's been running for 2 hours and has been showing 13-14 mins to finish for the last 45 mins sad

Thanks,
CJSL

cjslman, if I remember correctly, there has been a few reported "stuck" CFSW WU's. So, have you tried restarting BOINC and seing what happens then. In theory, they should revert back to their last checkpoint and (hopefully) continue successfully on from there.

Thanks... it didn't occur to me to do that. I'll keep that in mind the next time I see one of the stuck WUs.

Thanks,
CJSL

Re: Computing for Sustainable Water Problems Thread

I've had this task cost me 9 hours today of crunching time for waste..

I aborted it, so it probably went to someone else now... Tech team should kindly check.
