Re: Welcome to the Computing for Sustainable Water project!

Still no runtime estimate... Need to know how much force to put on this project to ensure sapphire. Nice pic though

You wont be getting any for a while, but can say that what you find on the official project website is greatly understated (and project would not have been boarded with those numbers IMO... nothing gets on the grid that needs just a few months given the big time investment to code, test launch and follow through a research till product is delivered to completion [research results]).

Re: Welcome to the Computing for Sustainable Water project!

While I don't have any affinity with Chesapeake, I assume that "later" this project or its results can be used in different settings all over the world, so also for this one I join.

(This has of course nothing to do with my temporary loss of Club Max membership card.)

The area I am visiting at this time has also problems with water/population/biodiversity (Guangdong, China) so who knows, and many other areas all over the world run into the same. So, while the badge is nice to get, this research might in some later stadium be practical for an area what I have affinity with also.

Re: Welcome to the Computing for Sustainable Water project!

I was wondering why the map on the graphics looked strange, so I compared it with the same region on Google Maps -- it's missing New Jersey!!! (or, NJ is now part of the ocean)

Re: Welcome to the Computing for Sustainable Water project!

Hello Genes,

New Jersey is still there, just not part of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.

Take care.

Re: Welcome to the Computing for Sustainable Water project!

So? Do the scientist(s) for this project have any interest whatsoever in our efforts here at WCG? I have been around for the launch of every science application except one and I have never seen one launched with seemingly so little interest of the science team supporting it. So far we have run over 800 cpu years of this project but no one from the project has even bothered to drop by and say “howdy”. Looking at the lack of even a bronze badge I wonder if they are even crunching their own project.

If this project was not with WCG, I probably would not have crunched it at all as it is not a science that interests me. But since it is at WCG I did a couple of years of it. Now I have completed my target for SWater and have opted out.
Just my two cents, but this is a very poor showing for the University of Virginia. sad

Well said. It is always nice to hear from the project leaders to let us know what they are doing with our volunteer efforts.

Cheers

Re: Welcome to the Computing for Sustainable Water project!

Hi All,
Sorry I haven't commented here more...this is my first WCG project. I'm one of the members of the UVa team, and I'm following the forums like the rest of the team.

Rest assured, I'm crunching away at the project. I think I've been caught up in the (just-fixed) linux bug.

So, Thank You from the UVa team. We really do appreciate your efforts.
