These things may or may not be true, but to suggest that Grid Computing in general would in any way be a part of that type of research is just not logical.
Don't you think if those people / corporations were doing research like that they wouldn't have whole buildings full of super computers at their disposal ?
I mean "Bill Gates for first , then David Rockefeller , Michael Bloomberg , Peter Peterson , Julian Robertson , John Morgridge , Eli Broad, David Rockefeller Jr, Ted Turner, Oprah Winfrey etc..."
Does anyone really think with all their Billions of $ that they would need to use a Public grid and our wimpy computers ?
I think this world is changing and much of what is going on is really scary , but Grid Computing is about trying to make a positive impact and giving something of ourselves to try to make things better.

All the different sciences have their own resources to find out what they are trying to accomplish if you take the time to look. If you don't believe them , it's time to do something different to make a positive impact in your own way...

I had to comment on this post. Umm.... Bill Gates spends 100's of millions or billions of dollars to The Gates Foundation. Some of his projects are actually INCREDIBLY similar to ours (fighting malaria, developing a nanostructure for water purification) I mean hes not Warren Buffet, but he is a pretty good businessman, and this would seem like (insert funny analogy here).

Read the research page as others have suggested, or even the research articles themselves. Probably won't understand most of it, I don't think many people here do honestly, I know I don't (especially the ones on proteins.) But I do it anyways for a better tomorrow.

Overpopulation is an issue, but don't you think a reputable media outlet would have picked up on all those people wanting to kill the less fortunate?

Last thought, one of the main reasons why I decided to get into grid computing in the first place, specifically WCG (was my first project), is because it's sponsered by IBM, which gave confidence in me to try it out.

EDIT after above post: Yes, this is the internet and you can post,read,copy, etc. LITERALLY ETC. All day everyday from billions of people. Well you can do all those things now anyways........ Don't know how much this "free internet" thing is going to last myself, but that's a WHOLE nother story

I think it safe to say that no one here feels the need to justify WCG to you. You are free to ask any question you want but no one is required to answer you.

and yet you believe that posting a link to a website that supposes Bill Gates is providing funds to support genocide is 'courteous and civil'. I believe my response was much more courteous than your post deserved.

You are correct and I apologize for saying that you demanded an answer. That was incorrect. What I should have said is that the individual research organizations are separately responsible for the research and that there is no moral oversight provided by WCG which works to evaluate the value of the research on individual projects.

ps: Oprah Winfrey is not a Man. I am quite sure that she would not see calling her so to be courteous.
