Re: Updates for DDDT phase 2

Hi all: Any idea when there will be more work units for Windows 7 x64?

Any updates you can pass along to us crunchers as to when there will be more work units to crunch? Just an estimate would help. Thanks.

Re: Updates for DDDT phase 2

Especially, when will there be workunits for Windows, which has had rather few in the past?

Or would you rather offer a way to install to install BOINC under Cygwin under Windows, without interfering with a Windows version of BOINC on the
same computer? That would gives a more general way to run Linux-only workunits under Windows.

Re: Updates for DDDT phase 2

This is not and never has been a shortage of windows wu, just a shortage of windows users that can set their system to fetch when they are available. I run all windows boxes and have downloaded and crunched 45 and 65 days worth on 7 cores on each of the last 2 showers.

It takes 30-45 seconds when the notice that wu are out to change settings. It is not hard, it is not rocket science, but we can't do it for you

Re: Updates for DDDT phase 2

What settings changes are needed?

I've crunched only 3 days worth on my total of 10 cores.

My selection of projects has included DDDT2 for months.

Re: Updates for DDDT phase 2

robertmiles, as has been mentioned numerous times in this (and many other threads), the changes aren't difficult.

Simply wait until you see a notice that there's some DDDT2 WU's in the offing, then remove ALL project selections EXCEPT DDDT2, and uncheck the box that has the wording "If there is no work available for my computer for the projects I have selected above, please send me work from another project." against it. (Edit: of course, don't forget, you'll need to save your settings...).

Then, increase your cache and watch the work flow in (it may require a few 'Update' button presses - as there'll be so many attempting to get so few WU's, but, in time, you'll get some DDDT2 WU's).

Edit 2: Due to the scarcity of DDDT2 WU's (when they're available), only those with just DDDT2 selected, are likely to get any - that is, unless there's a very long monsoon...

Pity: I have a friend in Bangladesh who has a bout of Dengue fever. She's recovering well, but this is one nasty affliction.

IF you have 64bit Win7 Ultimate, I do not know what other versions work too, you can setup a virtual box and run Linux inside it, or is that what you mean by Cygwin? I have run other Boinc projects alongside each other this way, but they do NOT share the resources. You must dedicate the desired resources to the virtual box.

Re: Updates for DDDT phase 2

No idea what to do with proposition 27: `when will there be workunits for Windows, which has had rather few in the past?`, either with or without question mark. If there is DDDT-2 it goes to whatever [supported] platform asking for tasks, of course meeting the A/B/C type criteria [which can be found in this forum and the System Requirement Help page]

A) 7 days deadline, only goes to trusted/reliable devices known to return work within 48 hours
B) 8 days deadline, going to anyone, right place right time.
C) 10 days deadline, going to anyone, right place right time.
